Took the dog for a walk, thought I'd look for some sheds and see if there were any spring bears yet. No sheds but came across a few tracks, wrong type of bear. Sure was nice to get out

Always figured an inch across the front pads was a foot nose to tail. That is 8” across the pads makes it an 8 foot bear more or less. Those claws are way out front as well. The pace of the hike really slowed down, a bit more stopping and looking, peek around a bend while talking to the dog, and didn't venture too close to the timberThose critters will keep my ol' head on a swivel.
