Took the Encore out today

Threw the MZ barrel on the encore today and tried some 295 gr powerbelt aerotips with 100grvof blackhorn 209. I'm going to try them with a 110 gr the next chance I get.

I've had really good luck with Barnes expander mz in my encore. Two 777 magnum pellets and 250 gr mz gives great accuracy and terminal performance from whitetails to moose. I had some concerns on moose given the flying shotglass looking hollow point but complete penetration thru the shoulder of a large cow moose put my fears to rest.

Nice moose! How far was the shot? I don't shoot this as often as I like, I use this for our deer gun seasons in Ohio. I'll have to give the Barnes a try, the only soabots I had any luck with were the Hornady SST low drag sabots. I want to shoot a heavier bullet and these are what have shot the best so far.

The shot was a quarting to shot at about 70 yards. It did lose at least one petal going thru the shoulder but still punched out the far side of the moose.

Yes, I'd say that 250 grain MZ delivered the goods on that cow. No doubt she presented some fine table fare.
