I have put off changing out scopes on a few of my rifles for some time. I am experiencing the unpleasantness of a flu since yesterday, so all writing has slowed to a crawl. Fortunately, I have a first draft of the messages for the coming several weeks, so I don't feel any particular pressure to force myself to write. I'm a terrible patient, refusing to stay in bed, though I know it is the best thing I could do. Restless, I began changing our some scopes last evening.

The Winchester Featherweight chambered in 280 Remington had worn a Kahles 3-9X42; it now wears a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10X40.

I scoped the 7mm WSM with a new Leupold VX6 3-18X50. Previously, it had worn a Leica 2.5-10X42.

The 30-06 was scoped with a Zeiss Diavari 3-9X36 which was exchanged for a Leica 2.5-10X42.

Now, the 338 Federal is wearing a Kahles 3-9X42, whereas it had been sans scope for far too long.

The 350 Remington Magnum now wears a Zeiss Diavari 3-9X36. Previously, it wore a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10X40.

The 358 Norma Magnum is wearing a new Zeiss Victory H% 2.5-10X50. Previously, it word a Leupold 4.5-14X50 VX3.

I should be receiving the 8X68S soon. It will be topped with a Leica ER 3.5-14X42 ASV. Now, to make up a few new loads and get these rifles sighted in. I still have good weather. Course, it will help if I get over this rotten flu. Patience, grasshopper, patience.

I'll see about posting a few pictures later.

You are going to have a busy range day getting them all zeroed Doc.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Sorry to hear your under the weather DrMike. Praying you feel better soon and can go play with your toys.

DrMike, we are praying that you feel better real soon :). We have had a flu bug go through our family over the last 10 days so the bathroom has been busier than usual  .
I have now taken off the B & L off my CZ 527 and will be placing it on my Son's H & R 223 heavy barrel and I have two young guys that are constantly asking me about that CZ but I just have trouble letting rifles leave their place in my safe .
I have not taken off the VX6 that sits on top of my 280AI as it has to go in for some work or replacement as the power ring is so tight that it will hardly turn :(. Will likely take it off after Whitetail that way I can use that rifle (y)!!
Again we you are back at full speed real soon.

Blessings,
Dan

Here are some pictures showing the results of the exchanges. First, the 30-06 and the 7 WSM. The 30-06 is a 2008 model from Florence, SC. The 7 WSM is an older New Haven model. Each gives good performance. Each has been blooded on game--the 30-06 took a new mule deer a couple of years ago, as did the 7 WSM. The 30-06 was charged with 165 grain Hornady Interbonds and took the deer at about 70 yards. The 7 WSM was loaded with 160 grain AccuBonds and took a fat mulie at about 25 yards. He was walking toward me and never saw me. I was almost sorry I didn't have my crossbow that day.

Next up is a much older 280 Rem and the much newer 338 Federal. The 280 Rem has taken more deer (both mule deer and whitetails) than I can remember. I have always used 139/140 grain bullets in this rifle. Favourite loads are built with either the 139 grain Hornady InterLock or the 140 grain Partition. The 338 Federal began life as a 243 Winchester, receiving a new barrel and some other assorted work to produce the current rifle. It shoots 200 grain Trophy Bonded bullets into a single ragged hole. It has accounted for one young moose so far.

Finally, I present the 358 Norma Magnum and the 350 Remington Magnum. The 358 Norma hasn't taken anything yet, but perhaps it will tag something yet this year. It sure handles nicely and shoots 250 grain Swift A-Frames into MOA groups. Once it is sighted in, it will likely accompany me this week. The 350 Rem Mag has taken one young bull elk. It shoots 200 grain TSX bullets better than I can ever imagine. It needs more time afield.

Very nice looking rifle collection Mike.

Those New Haven Model 70's are pretty much my favorite edition of that rifle. I like the new ones, the Pre-64s of course and even some of the late 80's early 90's push-feed models aren't so bad.

But my favorite is without a doubt those New Haven Model 70s.

Thanks for sharing those pics Doc.

Nice looking herd of rifles there Buddy but do I see a Remington in there :?: I can understand the 03-A3 but never saw a Remington in a Winchester Mans collection before.
I just can't help myself

Is that .358 Norma on a Springfield action?

Yes, Springfield action.

Oh, yes, I have a couple of Remington rifles. They come out occasionally, Rodger.

Good show. I started out swapping my first centerfire scope ( a 3x9 made for Wards Tasco) from my .22 to my first Mod 77 .280. Ever since then I have no qualms about swapping scopes on different rifles, ha. Curse ( not curse at!) that Flu In Jesus Name!!! Get well soon Pard.

This lousy flu is hanging on tenaciously. If I can get to feeling better, I may think about dying. Otherwise...

Fortunately, I know you will be singing at my funeral!
