  • Today I looked at trigger/sear engagement in my Montana ASR 30-06 and measured 0.052" engagement. The trigger pull is a very nice 2 1/2 lbs but has a noticeable amount of creep. When firing from a bench for load development. The creep is not noticed when I am shooting at game.
Does this see like normal engagement or should I take it to a smith to have a trigger job done or Timney replacement installed? Thank you for all suggestions.

Since it is an M70 style trigger I'd likely just have a good smith smooth the metal where it makes contact. A very fine stone will slick it up really easily.

+1 What Scotty said. I have stoned 2 M70 triggers to get the creep out of them and they feel as good as Timneys I've owned.
