Just got the .45 Kimber in from my smith who installed a new Holosun 507 Comp reticle system, this is my 2nd Holosun, the previous one was on my .38 Super. Tuned some loads for the .45 using #AA7 with 4 round increments from 11.4, 11.6, 11.8, 12.0 and 12.2, using Starline P+ brass, and 185 grain Remington Golden Saber hollow points. Shot off a bench at 12 yards. On the last three groups is 11.8, 12 and 12.2 grains, it seems that 12 grains gets the nod. I did pull right on 12.2 grains, but I'm happy with 4 shots in a ragged hole with 12 grains.
11.4 grains recorded at 1010 fps, and 12.2 grains recorded at 1107 fps. These loads are off the Sierra website under .45 ACP, but I have not tried the .45 ACP P+ loads where it can boost it to 1200 fps but I don't feel the need for it. I'm happy with 12 grains with estimated speed of a hair under 1100 fps. Loaded all remaining 95 bullets I have left last night. Pic with the red grips is the .45 and the black grips is the .38 Super.

I did not have to search for my ejected brass, I bought a cheap brass catcher from Wal Mart, a lightweight laundry mesh hamper that pops up into a box for 9 bucks, laid it sideways on the bench and it caught every single case, it beats looking for brass on the ground and short of brass when I get home. I have a portable Husky tripod with worklights in my shed, I'll unhook the lights, use the tripod to support the brass catcher while shooting at the range. Just a little modification, a 1x4 and tie wrap the bottom of the hamper to it and mount the 1x4 on the tripod. If it works, I'm happy.

Yep, that should work just fine. Love the 45, never found a reason to drift too far away. Carried 9mm and 40sw along with the 45 as duty weapons, always gravitated back to the 45. Guiding in Alaska I carried a 454 most of the time. Having been with in bayonet distance of brown bears many times a summer, at Alder patch distance I wanted raw power.
Your Kimbers look great.
