Those Sierra HPGK's are wicked. I have used the .30 cal 165gr. HPGK in my .308 Win. for deer in orchards where I was concerned with over penetration. That bullet is ideal for those hunts, and with a stout charge of Varget they shoot into one ragged hole at 200 yards. Not much for BC but they do what they were designed to do. I wouldn't trust them for elk however; not after having a poor penetration experience with the 180gr GameKing out of my .308, but for deer and antelope, they are a great bullet!

I have had these pass throught deer in my 7mm and 30 cal rifles for 20 straight deer now and for hogs (smallest hog being 125 pounds and deer and hogs were broad side shots). The 180gr G/K is not as tough as the 165gr G/K HPBT they are constructed slightly different. The HPBT is Sierra's toughest bullet along with the 225gr 338 and 35 cal SBT.

Wow, maybe my experiences have been the 'outliers'. I've not had one penetrate a mulie yet. Very Interesting.
