For a lot of us, spring is almost here. The snow is melting, temps are getting warmer and the days are getting longer too. Time to get out and start load development.

I will start shooting in mid May. I willl finish my work with my M700 Classic 35 Whelen loaded up with 250 gr PTs. I am also going to tweek my 280 AI with the 140 gr AB. I am getting a VX-3 3.5-10x40mm CDS and will order a custom dial. All in preperation for my WY antelope hunt.

There just might be a little 243 Win work as well.

What are you fellas planning to load for this spring?

JD338

My big plan is to actually start loading again! One or two more trips home and I should have my cra... uh, stuff out of storage and my bench set up.

Want to develop a 165 gr ballistic tip load for my .308 BLR. Also want to play with some 300 gr Swift A-frames for my .375 HH.

I'm still deciding which scope/style I want to go with on my 300SAUM. I'm leaning toward the VX-3 3.5-10 with either the B&C reticle or with custom M1 turrets. I just made a good deal on a M70 Classic sporter in 270WSM, so I will need some glas for that and get some loads worked up for it. My other WSM's shoot the 140 NAB and TSX, so I was thinking about trying the 130 E-Tip for this one. This rifle might bust the Vortex Viper cherry for me. The 4-16x44 HS with the BDC looks like it will give me practice with turrets, side focus and BDC without committing to any of the systems if I don't want to. I can sight it in for 200yds and leave it, use the side focus and turrets to dial one in, or use the BDC for distance reference.

I still need to pick up a .243 too.

I've got a ton on my plate this spring. I have retesting and refinements to make in my 180gr Ballistic Tip 8x57 load. I have a 300Wby that had only had a cursory workup to find out if it was shot out or not which needs finishing. I am hoping to find the right combination using 180gr E-Tips in it. I have a 30-06 I got a while back that has never been loaded for. On the menu there are 168gr BT's, or 150gr Hornadys if the BT's don't fly straight. And then or got my son's 270WSM to work with - and my son to introduce to centerfire rifle shooting. I think that last one is the real key to my year! I'll try to post my results as I get them.

Well, I'll be working on the getting a load set up for the 338 Edge. Either the 250 AB or he 300 SMK. Hoping to poke a bear with it this spring.

Right now I'm fine tuning a load for my .243 win with the 107 Nosler Custom Comp. Looks like 47 gr. H1000 is the winner. Shot a .5" group with it the otherday in a 10 mph wind. Nice part of that is two cut each other and the other was just a bit to the left (down wind). Should be lots of fun for the new 800, and 600 yard gongs I made. I'm a big fan of laying in the grass smoking gongs on a sunday!

I'm done with my 338 WM till this fall. When I shoot my 280 AI and it shoots .3 in groups all day long, and I can't get my 338 WM to shoot 2" one day to the next somthing has to change. Thinking it will be along the lines of a stainless 26" #3 three groove pac nor.

I know your 280 AI has a Pac nor on it but is it a 3 grooove?

I'm presently working on a load built around 150 grain E-Tips for my 30-06, and one built around 150 grain E-Tips in my new 280 Remington, and simply trying to find a decent load for the 260 I purchased for my grandchildren.

Welllllllll, since everyone's help on the 6.5's, I now need to work up a couple or three ideas for each (yep, each) of them.
Narrowed down to two and couldn't decide.

I have two of these and like them very much ! I have the turrent model as I don't like cluttering up the inside of the scope. I am afraid all of those lines will cause me to make a mistake one day.!!!

I am working on the 7mm STW as we speak with Nosler AB at the moment. Seems as though 1 inch 5 shot groups are the best I am going to get. However it has quit wandering all over the target. (got my fingers crossed)

We have new snow right above the house this morning. Wierd weather this spring, (global cooling) our elevation is 1200 feet.

I will be after what my new .243 likes or not, I am hoping it likes most everything :)

Also I will continue to search for a consistant 7mm08 load :(

25-06: It shoots the 120 gr. Partition very nicely and does 3/4-1 inch groups at 100 yards, but I was thinking that 110 gr. AccuBond would be great in it! Especially when I get that sheep or goat tag!

300 WSM: My son gets working this summer and buys a scope for his new rifle, I'll have to work on that one also. I can't wait! Going to try and get something with the 180 gr. Accubonds.

The main developement priorities for me are,,,,
getting the 45-70/405 confirmed to have a Skinner "sourdough" front sight built for the Marlin.
Then play with the new .375/444 Encore barrel and the new AM mold, casting a 265 gr. . Of which the mold should be here any day now. And then also, I have all the fireforming done and the most promising load found for the XP-100 6mmAI with Nolser's 105 gr. CC's, now it's a matter of tweaking it some.
Dave

Waiting for a sunny day. On the bench ready to test are 22-250 checking a new batch of powder and primers for my hunting load. 223 mini 14 function test ammo. 243 90gr Etips OAL accuracy test. 7mm rem mag 140gr AB and ballistic tip oal test. 300 savage function test and open sight practice. 300 win mag 300yrd 180gr AB sight in. 1 1/8oz 2 3/4" 20ga pattern testing and cronographing. 7/8oz high velocity 20ga pattern testing. might take a few days

Yes. It is a 1:9 twist three groove. Wish I would have gone 1:10, but thats ok, if I ever want to shoot a 180 VLD I can.

The Pac-Nor 3 groove's are great!! Why do you wish you went 1-10" twist. Generally 1-9" is more or less standard, and I believe even does better with 160's than a 10" would,,,albeit I haven't tried a 1-10 in a .284/7mm.

IMHO, all you need is a 1:9 twist in a 7mm.
My 280 AI is a 1:9 twist and shoots the 120 gr BT - 160 gr AB very well.

JD338

Just started loading for my brother's 7mm mag. 140 BT and 160Accubond are first on the list then he wants me to work on his 375 Ruger - 260Accubonds will be first. I think I'll let him do the shooting on the 375 . As for me, I have 125BT load I'd like to shake out in my .308 Kimber and a 150 AccuBond load using the new Superformance powder in my 300wsm. Then we'll have to figure out which ones are going to WY for our antelope hunt this fall!
