Hey, just been looking for a temp insensitive powder replacement for my 28N/195 eol load I’m just about out of Re33 and the stuff is phenomenal in that caliber and wieght speed and accuracy top notch. But temp increase 20 degrees and the load is now off it’s node. It’s pretty sensitive especially to warmer temps. Colder temps it’s been okay. I’ve been looking at imr 8133, and n570 but of course can’t get my hands on any .. I’ve got 19 pounds of retumbo but I’m pressuring out at 2930-50fps
The 33 gets me 3100 all day long with no pressure. I should say the throat is throated for the 195s my coal is 3.730 to touch I run them 15 thousands off so 3.715 So I can fit a lot powder in there. I’m at 87.0 grs of 33. My rifle just won’t shoot retumbo. Please trust me I’ve ladder tested and found the flat spots low and high node at every 5 thousands on seating depth. I get better velocity out h1000. Anyways to my main question and on to the point , I’ve picked up an 8 pounder of viht n568
I’ve read enough to know it’s not quite as bad ass as the 570 but it’s a sc and if you can get the volume in there with a heavy for caliber it will match the speed of 570. It’s supposedly extremely accurate and virtually temp insensitive as a powder gets. I can’t find any data on this. Vihtavuori has a couple loads for 300 prc and 6.5 prc. Mainly I want to run it in my 28n with the 195. And heavies in 7mag and 300wm. Any of you guys have any experience with this stuff? Thank you for any help guys. Is it worth a QL I can list the specifics ..

Thank you, this helps quite a bit. I didn’t even have a clue where to start with it. Plus the 2nd QL you sent with all the powders is pretty close at their near maximum to what I’ve got in my notebook of where I hit pressure with retumbo h1000 and it’s spot on almost to my re33 load.
It does look a bit slower FPS but I was willing to drop down to 3020-30 with retumbo but I just couldn’t get it to work. It’s the only rifle I’ve not been able to make magic of the retumbo with. Shoots 33 like a dream tho. Anyways the 568 looks to be around the same fps as retumbo maybe a touch more. Willing to give up some FPS for temp stable es/sd. I’ve got 700-1000 yard shots around my place on bucks/bulls. I have a window now to load a ladder test with which is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again Don’t get me wrong if I could buy an 8 pounder of 33. I’d just stick with it. But again put that on the pixie dust list .. can’t find it

Still would love to hear anyone’s work ups or use of this powder in any caliber .. n568

Well, stranger things have happened. Who knows, pixie dust may be found the next time you go into your LGS. I found six bags of Winchester 307 Win brass yesterday, and it was marked almost $20 less than any of the other brass on the shelf. For those who need that strange brass, it was a great find.

I did see some 307 hornady the other day at sportsman’s now I think about it. Ya very true I also try as much as possible to support my local gunsmith (he sells all the things also) I definitely try to stay away from or support the online gouging machine that has revealed itself as of late. There’s few left out there that are honest In my humble opinion. Typically the LGS are the best at it for sure. My buddy did walk into a sportsman’s the other day and 8 pounder of h1000 was sitting there all by itself..
That one made me a bit jealous I have to admit,I shoot more of that than anything through my 2 7 mags and my wife’s 7 mag 😂. Of course he’s a brand new Reloader (less than a year) and I told him it must be beginners luck .. only thing I could think of.

Got an update , the powder showed up Wednesday. I’m out in the back yard shooting my ladder on the n568 right now. This is the first charge I feel I’m coming up to pressure on bolt lift was easy, no ejector mark but primer has a touch of flattening and where the firing pin hit it’s starting to barely protrude out. I’ll attach the whole ladder and work up and pics tonight. To Dr mike - your QL reference looks like it’s to be about spot on. I might be getting a few more FPS than it showed but max charge looks to be around 81.8-82 grs and should be a touch over 3000. Im hoping for 3020 mv. You were right on the speed being a bit lower than re33. At this point I’m okay with 3000-3020. As long as the es/sd is good. This powder reminds me very much of retumbo. It’s almost identical speed to charge wieght/density. The problem I was having with retumbo was the es was 50-60
and I couldn’t ever find a node above 2900 fps
This 568 is seems to be a bit more consistent in my rifle. It was climbing 9-12 FPS per .2 gr increments. The retumbo was all over the place I’m in somewhat of a flat spot at 81.0 I still need to finish the ladder test and then build a group on the node (which right now after this shot I can pretty much say it’ll be 81.0-81.5) and see how it groups ! I’ll post everything when done.
