I ran into a problem with the current mounts. I have run out of scope adjustment. I spoke with Guy Miner and he advised me that Leupold offers their 1 pc mount with the front dove tail and rear windage screw set up for the 1895 Guide gun. May have to add a shim to the rear but this should take care of the adjustments.

The Leupold mount works great on the .45/70 Marlin!

Also, not unusual to have to shim a one piece scope base on a Marlin - pretty common affliction of the brand. No big deal, a thin piece of brass does the job just fine. Even Leupold told me that was the way to cure the problem when I ran out of elevation adjustment trying to scope my first .45/70 Marlin.
