Waiting on the draws...

Doggone - I'm getting impatient for the Wyoming non-resident draw for mule deer & pronghorn tags! The draw is supposed to happen June 30th... That's about six years away the way I'm feeling right now...

Washington draw came and went. Nada. Zip. Nothing.

My son and I can still hunt deer, bear and elk with our over-the-counter tags, which isn't all bad, but it would have been nice to draw something! I really wanted a cow elk tag. Can't believe how tough it's getting to draw a cow elk tag... Phooey.

As far as the once-in-a-lifetime tags: mountain goat, bighorn sheep and moose - well heck - I contributed my draw fee once again. Not much chance of actually drawing one of those rare tags, but I'd sure like to do so.

Who else is still waiting on draw results?

Who already drew good tags? No - I won't dislike you for drawing. Not much anyway...

Draw results for fall won't be posted until early July. I put in for grizzly (of course), late elk and mountain goat nearby.

I feel your pain. I didn't draw for antelope or elk again this year. Results for deer hunts won't be out until Aug. 10. bsed on past history, I'm not holding my breath. Oh well, at least I'll have my landowner cow elk tag for this coming December. Gives the 35 Whelen something to do.

I'm in the same boat, Guy. I'm hoping to draw antelope tags for me and my son in WY this fall. It is his HS graduation present.

Me too Guy!

Did not draw moose (to be expected) so holding out for antelope and Elk results

Same here! Oregon shoud be available online this week. They say the 20th but we always sem to be able to get them online a few days ahead of that.

Expecting to draw my buck tag with my brother, brother in-law, and two buddies. Should be a good hunt. We are in a new area for us so there will be some learning for sure. Might have to make a scouting trip or two.

As far as elk go, I'm hoping and hoping that I can draw my big bull tag (9 years and counting), if not I have a very slight chance of drawing my second choice any elk tag, but more than likely I'm looking at our usual spike hunt. Hoping I can get the 338/375R up and running by then.

Speed goats, big horns, and Mt. goats, are all a VERY slim chance, but a guy can dream.

Good thing Oregon fall bears are OTC. I plan on getting the STW its first blood with a fall blackie (or brown, or blonde).

Drew a forth season either sex elk tag for a zone by Craig Co. I am taking my cousin for his first elk hunt. I am really looking forward to this hunt! I would love to have two branch bulls in the back of my truck.

Still waiting to hear about the California draw for elk but chances are thin.

Antelope in Wyoming is almost a sure thing--most of the zone is private property so tags do not sell out until season opens. This will be my wife's first big game hunt! It has been a long 12 years to get her interested.

There is always black tail and the possibility of bear here in California.

We usually hear about the Idaho draws just before 4th of July. I put in for a rather difficult deer hunt and a new doe antelope hunt in addition to the same cow elk tag I draw last year. So I expect to draw something but what I don't know. I put my wife in for the hard stuff and it would be really cool if she drew something.

I feel your pain, here in Saskatchewan the draw deadline is May 31st and we don't hear anything until the middle of July. It is totally computerized I don't understand why it would takes so long. It is not like there are millions of apps. :(
Oh well, I have 2 more shifts and then I am going to be shooting and fishing not necessarily in that order for 6 days:)

Blessings,
Dan

Wishing all guys waiting good luck. I didn't put in for anything this year not knowing all going on here. May look into left over tags for Antelope in WY. if things work.

I am still waiting for the second chance opportunity in Wyoming. I applied for PP only in Washington, and Nevada. Did not draw in Az. Will hunt near jmad for Spikes in Oregon, I applied for a first choice tag, I will not live long enough to get a big bull tag in that unit.

Guy, you think it's hard to get a cow tag, now, wait till the wolves move in. They are coming. Won't be any tags to be had, luck or not.

They're here - and are starting to make their presence known.

Two more were just captured and set up with radio collars in the Colville reservation last week. They're confirmed to be both north and south of "my" area, and I found real interesting, big, "dog" tracks while scouting for mule deer two years ago. At that point WDFW told me that they had to be from some bird hunter's dog... Right. I've never seen a bird hunter up where I was, and the tracks came from the forest, ran along the trail 12 - 20 yards, then went right back into the forest, several miles from the trailhead. I was pretty well convinced I'd found the trail of a wolf. Funny thing, the tracks weren't there when I walked in early in the day, but were present when I hiked out late that afternoon.

Yes, the wolves will make their presence known soon enough, and this liberal state is highly unlikely to ever make shooting one legal. Sad, how badly that whole issue has been managed, or mis-managed. But there ya go, you got me off on a tangent!

Guy I have to share your sediment on that. I'm disturbed by the wolves and what it will do to hunting very soon.

There are many times when the "hair on the back of my neck" stand, and just get that real weird feeling I'm being watched. Guess it's that sixth sense kicking in. But whether it be in the north timber country here, or when roaming places out west, both I enjoy. With wolves mostly here in the north, and with those and mountain lion's to the west, just have me on the wary side when out and about. Many a time, I catch myself wondering if I'm carrying enough gun.
