Waiting on the draws...

I don' t have much hope this year for draws, my bull elk apparently will need to be a 11 or 12. First year for bull moose, that will be 5 years (p5). Mule buck is a maybe, mule doe maybe. Trophy antelope is 10 year wait I am 4 years in on that aswell, but the population is hurting right now. Srd went from giving out 1200 tags to 200 this last year.

Waiting on AZ Coues Deer and WY Antelope.

In the meantime I'll work on my loads for my 25-06 and continue to wait on my .300 that is residing at my Gunsmith's.

The wolf population here in southern part of province is not real heavy:) I have been told that we can shoot them in the farmlands with out any permit! I have always had a special place for wolves but if they are going to start taking all game. I will be seeing them in my scope

Blessings,
Dan

Am on pins and needles right now - the nonresident Wyoming deer & pronghorn draw results are supposed to be posted tomorrow morning... Fingers are crossed!

Guy, I know the feeling. Oregon draws in two days! Normally we can find out a few days ahead of their posted date if we check online. I have been checking twice a day for the last week, nothing.

I'm going crazy.

I drew! I drew! I got a tag for pronghorn! I got a tag for mule deer!

I drew! I drew! I drew!

The day just got better. A lot better.

Congrats, Guy! Unfortunately my son and I were unsuccessful this year for antelope. On a better note, a friend is working on getting us on a private ranch near Buffalo.

Well, once again the state of Oregon is a huge dissapointment. We drew our buck tag, with three time the needed points, and nothing else.

I about jumped out of the tractor lastnight when I found out. I get all excited every year, just to get hit by the same "unsuccessfull" bus every year.

I'm going to find some other state with some OTC elk tags. Maybe go check out the Oregon or Washington coast and try my luck at a Roosevelt. As soon as I get this 338/375R built I'm done spending money on rifles. I'm going to put my money towards finding a state that will let me actually hunt something besides spikes. :x

Washington is insanely expensive for non-residents, I would go for Western Oregon.

I drew late Spike Hunt in Mt. Em.

Good Job Guy. I am glad you drew both tags. The Antelope hunts can be kind of short in Wyoming. I did not draw my favorite Bull Elk & Deer tag this year. I can always buy a general tag for both. I did draw the same old Antelope tag for the last 20 years. I did draw a cow/calf license for an area that interests me. I want to learn it a little better. I always come up with plenty of hunting every year. I have been REAL LUCKY drawing tags for the last 5 years some of my friends where ready to complain to the Wyo Game Fish dept! Brian

"There are many times when the "hair on the back of my neck" stand, and just get that real weird feeling I'm being watched."

Many years back whn I still lived in Nevada I as in this canyon scoutinf for deer prior to the season. I had my .243 with me on the chance I'd spot a coyote so that I could shoot it and check the quality of the hide. I had the feeling I was being watched and when I looked back, aabout 30 yards away was a Mountain Lion looking at me like I was dinner. I yelled a bit and threw a rock at it and it ran off some. I continued up the canyon and started leeling nervous again and sue as hell the cat was back. A few more rock and yelling and it went away again. I'd gone probably another half mile up the canyou when I really go spooky and when I checked my back trail that cat was bacl and looked like it was getting ready to jump me.I should add that it was maybe 25 feet away. Three strikes and you're puddy tat. I shot it. I gave up trying to scout that day so went home and notified Fish & Game. They came by the house and picked me up and we went to "the scene of the crime". They picked up the cat and later told me that her stomach was totally empty. They also told me that an archery hunter was forced to shoot another cat under very similar circumstances. That cat also had a totally empty stomach. I sure wished I'd had a lion tag that day. At least I could have kept the hide or had it mounted. I've since been told they're pretty decent eating. If I ever get another one, I'll let you know.

Your son to I assume?!?! YES!!!! Sweet!! What area?? Man I cant tell you how happy I am for you! Let the planning begin. CL

Thanks CL, much appreciated. I'm very enthused. My wife is laughing at me a lot this evening as I call guys and talk to them about it...

Ah, Number Two son, the hunter, will have to be content with hunting in Washington.

Long as I'm footing the bill for his college education, he's not taking a week off to go hunting in Wyoming... A few weekend hunts here for deer, elk and bear will have to satisfy him...

A buddy here drew a Once In A Lifetime tag for a bighorn sheep hunt just a few miles south of where we live here in central Washington. The bum! Heck, I had more points for that hunt, but he drew it. Must be clean living...

Congrats there Buckfever - looking forward to seeing some great photos of your elk and buck hunts!

Guy
