Weatherby Vanguard S2

It would seem strange toting a 243 or a 223 with a 24 inch barrel. Sounds reasonable, though. They are certainly expanding their offerings. The trigger looks interesting. Savage compelled everyone to address the issue of triggers, and at last Weatherby has been brought into line with Winchester, Browning, Remington, etc., all of whom were chasing Savage on this issue.

It does seem a little strange to have the same barrel length for a 7-08 and a .257 Weatherby!

We'll have to see about the price. The old model Vanguards were so cheap you could throw a Timney on them and still not be into the gun for very much. But I do prefer SS.

Dang, no 7 Wizzum.

I would bet that when they hit the shelves they will be priced at low $400 or slightly less, Cabelas has very good deals on those first run guns. I would hate to buy premimum ammo to test it out with tho !!!!!

A 257 Bee would be nice! but mine has got to have a 26" tube. Sorry I am weird  !

Then I am too, Pop. That's why my .257 is an SPS, rather than a Vanguard.

I have two of the last generation of stainless/synthetic Vanguards, one in .257Wby. and the other in .270WSM. Neither one is the MOA version, but both will group into 0.50" at 100 yards. Yup, they do carry 24" barrels, but they don't give up anything in the accuracy dept., and at magnum cartridge velocities. I'm glad to see Wby. offer them again.

I visited my Wby. supplier recently and he said that some of the older stainless rifles are still available and he looks for them to go on "clearance" sale prices.

Almost forgot,.... the small groups were all shot while using Nosler bullets (WHEW), gota get that in!

I am not too scared of a 257WBY with a 24" barrel. Figure it is still quite a bit ahead of the 25-06 either way. They look like great hunting rifles and the Vanguards are some of the best out there for good, solid hunting rifles and they actually look and feel pretty good. Scotty

Well Pop if you're weird so am I

I had one of the Wal-Mart VGs in 300Bee and it was a great shooting rifle, sub MOA from day one with Weatherby or Hornady factory fodder.
HOWEVER, a 24 inch barrel on a 300Bee makes about as much sense to me as a screen door on a submarine.

I'd buy another one in 22-250,243 etc with a 24 inch barrel on it but not a magnum.

Also,Why did they go to a two stage trigger? I personally despise them.I want a single stage trigger with no take up or creep that breaks cleanly at 2.5 lbs
