I, for one, am impressed whenever anyone proposes to "whittle" their own stock. I simply don't do wood. I love to see wood, but it is a disaster whenever I touch it.

Should be a fun project. The 338 Edge is a hammer. What bullet are you going to use?

Dr. mike, not much on the shaping of wood either, but man the synthetics and the aluminum stocks are cold during hunting season, freezein my @$$ is bad enough when my hands get cold I gotta pack it in. thats why most of my hunting rifles I use alot are wood.

I do love a nice stick of wood. I know what you mean about cold hands. In any weather where the temperature drops below -20 C, not even good gloves can guarantee warm hands. Wood is what I want in my hands at such times.

Very nice RR! Wished you could run it through a planer just to show the grain off a little. Looks like Black Walnut?

That Edge should be pretty cool. Looking forward to see what you do with it. Scotty

That blank has some real nice swirls in it. I can't do wood either but I sure like the looks of it. That is going to be a georgeous stock on a serious rifle. I can hardly wait to see it and hear the range reports.

You've got the makings of a fine long range rifle there!

Russo makes an excellent stock too - I think you're going to be happy!
