what gun/bullet to use for black bear?

I think either would work well. I would take the 30-06 just because....

Shot placement is king. Here is a link to give you an idea. Remember a bears chest cavity is smaller than a deer. You will realize this when you clean one out, it gets narrow fast.

The Timney 870 shotgun spring kit worked great! The old 760 now has a crisp 2lb trigger. It isn't a "glass rod" break, but it's pretty darn close. No creep or overtravel. I'd say it equals the Chip Mcormick 2lb trigger I had in my AR. I'm very pleased.

I'll start a new post under rifles and list this there too, I'd say it's money well spent for any 760 or 7600 owner.
