What would you do?

Very good, Pat. You scored quite well on that one. I do like your plan.

Howdy Guys,
Greetings from Dubai...again. Pat, I think you guys will have a lot of fun with that .243 and congrats on the barrel find! I really like your idea about the older one growing into the M70 .270 Super Grade. That's the route I took with my daughter. It might be a little much for her now, as she's three, but we'll get there soon enough. Now I have to find another for her little brother with pretty wood like hers. The wood on some of the Super Grades is outstanding lately. Oh well, I guess the quest continues for yet another rifle. I figure they can grow up shooting mama's little Kimber .257 Roberts 84M Classic Select until they're ready! It's a trim little svelte package that is a joy to carry and shoot and it's very accurate to boot!
Take Care,
Joe

Joe,

Good to hear from you. Yeah, it is tough to make do with the Kimber, but I'm certain your little ones' can do it. The Super Grade Model 70 is certainly a dandy catch for any of our children; and you are correct, they will grow into them soon enough.

Joe that sounds like a great plan! I was seriously thinking of putting a Bob barrel on this rifle, but the deal on the barrel was just too sweet to pass up. My oldest is 5 right now and chomping at the bit to "shoot a big daddy deer". We shoot her daisy BB gun and she really is getting the hang of it. In Missouri they can start hunting at 6, but I may wait a year or two longer. I have a .223 that may just get a dose of 60 gr Partitions, but I am NOT cutting the stock down on that one ( Ruger #1V).

My supergrade sports a cheap synthetic stock at the moment due to a bad moment in my judgment I hastily put it down standing up on my reloading bench 8 or 9 years ago and bumped it when I got up... It fell onto the concreate floor and actually snapped the forearm:(... Still shoots unbelievably well even in the crappy stock. I plan on finding a really nice walnut stock and finishing it myself.

I am meeting the gunsmith on Tuesday to look at the barrel and give him the barreled action.

I also am picking up the 1960 Model 70 in .243 this week as well. Can't wait to bring her home. Pics will follow.

That's a sweet plan Pat. I think your going to have a slew of shooters for them!

Hey Joe. Hope your doing well buddy.
