I now have two .338 AB's I can shoot. I am in the final stages of dialing in my 250gr AB, & have a 225gr. all ready.
So, which would be your "Go To" bullet.
They shoot the same groups,(1/2" MOA or better)
The 225 shoots a few inches flatter, with a hundred fps. more velocity, but the 250 carries about 150 ft/lbs more energy.
I'm torn!

What caliber are you shooting?

I have settled on the 250 gr AB in my 338 RUM. Its very accurate and hits like the hammer of Thor both near and far.

I shoot a 338 WM. The 225's are going 2915 fps, & the 250's are going 2800 +/- a few. I'm not entirely done with the 250's yet. But once I'm done adjusting the B.O.S.S. I'l have them shooting as good as the 225's. They are just so close in performance, I don't know which one to go with. I guess it boils down to which is better. Velocity, & flatter trajectory, or kinetic energy.

If the accuracy is the same, go with the 250 gr AB. It will make your 338 WM
a hammer for sure.

Either is a fine choice, but I'd go with the 225's. It's plenty of bullet for elk or moose, and will open up a little better leaving a larger wound channel. But If I was JD and had a 338 RUM, I would probably go with the 250. A 250 AB around 3K is a serious hammer...

My uncle's hopefully going to find out in less than a month on an elk with his 338/300 ultra. Hope to let you know the results by 26 October.

yote,

What bullet is your uncle going to use in his 338 Edge?

For me it would depend on what I plan on hunting , and what conditions I might expect to be the norm so to speak.
For Elk and maybe lesser animals I would go with the 225 in most instances.
