Which powders would you choose?

RL7
RL15
RL19
RL25

Probably have to add H110 or Alliant 2400 in there too for the six guns.

I'm with Jim. You must be crazy!

If limited to only four, though, it'd be these:

Win748
H4895
H4350
IMR7828ssc

I'd like to have H1000, but if limited to four, for some lunatic reason, those are the four.

Mostly I use only two:

Varget & H4350. Those are the two rifle powders I buy in 8 pound containers.

In addition to those, I like to have RL-22 and RL-15 & Retumbo on hand as well, though they're not really necessary if all I've got is Varget & H4350.

Here is another vote for Varget and H4350. The only other powder I have on hand is IMR4350, but use mainly Varget and H4350.

RL15/Varget, H4350, RL22, RL25,,,I sure would like to have a 5th, being Benchmark. I just can't do 4 as much as I would like to.
Of course I could down size inventory, by going with the .223 and .30-06, and get by with 2 powders.
Then H4350 and Benchmark works for me. Those are the only 2 powders I buy 8 lbs in.

I as well NEED more than 4 but if I had to I would have to go with rl15/varget, rl19, h1000 and retumbo.

Well....... I have to admit that I have 24 different powders in my reloading room. My query was designed to gather info about which powders to purchase in 8lb jugs. What I have found is that by the time I've determined a good load I'm left with just enough powder to load up a box for hunting/sight in. Then I have to retest That load with a new lot of powder. If I start with 8lb jugs that should eliminate that problem. My most used powders are Varget, Imr 4350 and Retumbo.

Well, I actually have (7) rifle powders and (5) pistol powders in my room. My plan however is to have only (4) rifle and (3) pistol powders for efficiency reasons.

It would be hard because I probably have 20+ different powders but if I had to have 4 it would be:
R-7
Varget/R-15
R-22
H-1000 or Retumbo

I'd feel more comfortable with 6 or 7. I'd include H/IMR4350 and H4831 to the above list.

TAC 223rem-35rem-358win-35whelen and the like.
H4320
H4350 30-06 & 270win
H4831 270win
I am lost for the magnums so maybe one more slow powder like H1000 inplace of 4831.

I could load everything with:

w748
w760
H4831
WC860

If you don't shoot Ultra mags, you can skip the WC860 and add in IMR4895.

If I was creating a minimalist list it would probably look something like this:

W748
W760
IMR4895/H322
H4350
H4831
WC860

With those 6, I can pretty much load every rifle case I care to load.

For Pistols these three would pretty much do it for me:
AA5
2400
w296/H110

I have done just great with: IMR 3031, 4064, 4350 and 7828 for many years. I have the small groups of over 50 years to comfort me in my decision to go with consistency. Plus, no damaged rifles because somebody changed the mix and burning rate in a lot just for laughs!

For pistols: Hodgdon TiteGroup, LilGun and new IMR 4756 keep me going with powders that don't care about where they lay in the case, they perform the same. Plus they give high energy per grain and good accuracy.

Your mix is just about what I'd roll with we're I to use IMR vs Alliant powders. Those are really useful powders for all of mine as well.

I have IMR4350, IMR4320, IMR700x, and W748

With these powders I load for:
9mm
45ACP
38SPCL
357mag
12GA
22-250
257 Rob
7mm-08
280
30-06
