Which rifles this season?

Planning on the 7mm Rem Mag, Ruger Number One, for everything.

But... Ya never know. The Rem 700 CDL's in 25-06 & 30-06 know that Wyoming is approaching, and they're starting to gang up on me... They're my usual mule deer & antelope rifles.

We will see.

I hate it when the others get jealous.

My son is using a Rem 243 with 100 gr partitions.
My wife a Savage 110 7mm-08 with 120 Nosler Btips
For me I will usually ask my 6 yr old son which rifle to take. He feels like he is part of the hunt even when he is not going if he could choose the rifle I take. My options are as follows:
Remington 700 270 with 150 gr Speer Hot-cor (my son likes this one because it has a wood stock)
Remington 700 30-06 with 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips
Tikka 7 mag with 150 gr Partitions.

Kimber 280 AI, and a post 64 Model 70, 7mm Mashburn as backup, both for elk. The Kimber in fairly new and has yet to fulfill its mission. Both are using 160 Nosler AB's up front.

Used my Seekins havak in 300 win mag for moose this year.

Going to take the weatherby ultra lightweight 338/06 out after bears next few weeks

Already used Vanguard in 270 Win for a doe deer.

Upcoming is Rem 700 in 6mm Remington and a Wby Mark V ULW in 257 Wby for antelope.

Probably 35 Rem and 450BM for deer later this fall.

Man it's hard to chose. At some point in the season. I'll tote my 700 ADL 243win, 336 30-30, 1895 45-70, Stainless Featherweight 270win, and 700sps 300wsm. The Featherweight and 1895 will probably see the most field time since I haven't drawn blood with either of them yet.

My wife will be toting my lucky Tikka 270win that she has pretty much talked me out of the last few years.

Near Gillette.

Friend of a friend, 3500 acres and no one else hunts it.
We found out that someone we know here in MI has a friend in WY with a ranch, and is more than happy to have us come. It will be the 3rd time. They're not large, but no competition either.

6,5 Creedmoor for most (roe, fallow and maybe red deer, boar)
30-06 for driven hunts.

And hopefully sitting next to a 308 when my girlfriend takes hier first game.

We are hunting in more or less similar conditions most of the time. So there is really no need for more guns/calibers. Actually, one would do, but I like to have a backup.
Sold two guns to buy my girlfriend's first.

BTW, Cleveland: interesting to see you using German guns where I just bought two American.
I have a weakness for some of the German guns. Unfortunately I can't afford them lol.

Is it bad that I have enough rifles that I can't decide which rifle to use? LOL

Well, I'm taking out my (Win Mod 70) 270WSM w/140ABs for some of the deer season and take my (Browning A-Bolt) 338WM w/225ABs for antlered elk.

Neither of these rifles have seen much use in the last several years.

Well, interestingly enough, I've been carrying my 9.3X64 Brenneke as I have patterned a large black bear and a herd of elk (250 grain AB). I carried my 325WSM for the first couple of times afield (200 grain PT), but received an offer that I couldn't refuse, so a favoured rifle left the confines of my safe. I will likely carry my 270WSM (130 grain E-Tip) or one of my 280 Remington rifles (either a 140 grain Hornady or a 150 grain ABLR, depending on the rifle) later when I get serious for white tail and mule deer. These are each proven rifles and the loads are dependable.

Probably a bit sad to see that 325 leave the safe but I'm sure that 9.3x64 will fill in very nicely. Hope you connect on that bear or maybe and elk or moose will enjoy the trip home with you.

Gerry, I'm getting old enough that I need to thin the herd. It was a good offer and I realised that it wouldn't hurt to see some space appear in the confines of that particular safe. I'm sure one of these creatures will shortly accept my offer to come for dinner.

Well...I'm going to get one sighted-in tomorrow.
Guess Ill go with the old workhorse I used last year:

Well this year it’s going to be the
Ruger 77 in 30-06 using 165gn BTs or the Savage 111 in .270 Winchester using Sierra 140gn btsp. Got a red deer hunt coming up next month.

For in the thick stuff here around the house I’ll lean towards my dads old 94 Winchester in 30-30 or my grandfather’s old M-71 in 348.

It'll mostly be the 41 mag carbine (Henry) again this year, same as last year.

Just deer for me as usual.

May let the 280 Ackley out once also.
