I'm going to work up a remington sps varmint in .243 witha twist of 9 1/8 I'm looking at 80 grain BT"s who has some good accurate loads for this bullet? These guns have a 26" barrel. Has anyone used the new IMR 4007 SSC powder it claims to be good vel for this caliber? Thanks alot.

Not a 80 gr load for the 243 Win, but the "club" load for the 70 gr was 39.0-39.5 grs IMR4895. This load shot well under MOA in several different rifles.

I put together a set with the 80 grain BTs and Varget but haven't had a chance to shoot yet; if I'm not out of town for work then the wind is blowing about 400 mph and it was 13 below zero when I left home this morning. I can let you know what I find out if I ever get the chance.

I got great accuracy with the 95-100 gr bullets and IMR4350.

pop how about a load work up with IMR 4007 SSC with 80 bal tip and OAL 2.630.

I have plenty of IMR 4350 as it is my best powder for the 25-06 and 110 accubonds. What kind of vel and groups do you get with this powder with a 80 grain bullet? Also are oyu at the upper end of pressure with this powder? Thanks.

How about IMR 4895 as a powder for the 80 grain bal tip in .243?

coyotetrapper,

As I mentioned above, IMR4895 gave excellent accuracy with the 70 gr bullets in several different rifles. Due to the level of accuracy displayed with this powder, I feel very strongly that you should at least give it a try with the 80 gr bullets.

Oops didn't see your above post yes I'm going to buy a lb and give it a try, as IMR shows you can go to 40 grains with this powder, and I'm liking the idea of 38.5 to 39 I never like to get to max as I shoot in the summer alot raising pressure and the such.

Thanks I'll let you know how it turns out.

That load was shot year round by all of us and no one ever had any pressure issues, other than trying to win the match.
