About the most useless rifle I can possibly get for my type of hunting!!!

Stigmas.................

Not accurate.....
Low bc bullets can only be safely employed...
Limited power....

(again all of the aforementioned are not in fact general hindrances, but inapplicable to my available hunting)

Usage factor .....1

Cool factor..........10

Can anyone relate? Any examples?
What is your current sicknes? :?:

LOL, I can relate 100%. Not the best, not really as safe as modern guns, but yeah they are cool. LOL, if those old guns could tell stories.... Be lots of interesting tales I bet.

I love mine, POP. Use it as an excuse to get a lot closer to those muleys and pronghorns! I suspect it would kill elk in those thick woods you hunt. A 170gr Partition would do the job fine, I bet.

When I read the title to this topic, all I could think was "because there cool!" 8)

First rifle I've ever own. I still have it... just for sentimental value sake. It's a safe queen now, lost favor to my bolt guns.

Because you don't have one! I have recently been thinking along the same lines as well. Think I will get a 45-70 though before I get a 30-30. BTW, I also think the 375 Win is a cool cartridge as well.

besides being cool. they carry and balance well in the hand and are just easy to handle... mines stays in the safe!

Thinking about this a little more. Why do you need a reason to own one? That whole "Just say no thing", is over rated!

Can you live without one :?:  NO I have a very nice Mod.94 in my safe and use it whenever I can, Everyone should own one

Heck man I killed my 1st deer at age 14 with a 30:30 lever gun. At age 48 I bought another one because there so dang cool. In the rain forests of the olympic mountains the 30:30 lever gun remains the gun of choice for a whole army of guys hunting black tailed deer. I loaded around 200 rounds this summer alone to keep my hunting buddies and myself supplied with ammo for our cool lever guns. We use-em for killing too way out here in western washinton. Tell ya what, a friend of mine just killed a 570 lb. black bear while hunting the thick stuff for black tail deer. I think I,m going to get me another lever gun in .450 marlin. Seems like were growing black bear the size of small grizzly bears around here. I agree with a 10 score for cool and at least an 8 for usage in the tight cover of the olympic rain forest. Our shots are close and quick. No use for a scope. Can,t keep it dry. Lever guns are fun to shoot and cool. Thats enough right there to own one or two. Have fun POP ------hubcap

.....................Cool factor is about all! A 30-30 has limited range, although the Lever Revolution ammo with better bullet BC can be used to extend the range.

Other than that, it`s a handy, fun, short to moderate range, brush, timber and saddle gun. That`s it!.............Not the first choice for my type of hunting.

You need to look at it from a different angle, POP. Ask "why not" and see if the guys can talk you out of it!!

That is the cartridge that got me into guns!!!!

When in 7th grade (1977) I was given a Guns & Ammo magazine featuring the then new 375 Win. I read that magazine cover to cover 100's of times.... I was hooked.

Hey POP, three of my hunting buddy's have them. With the new leverloution ammo there getting out to 250 yards and more. One of them did a three shot clover at a 100 yards with all three touching. I saw it and was very impressed. They are cool looking to.

or..................

how about a Win 94 in 356 Win big bore?

at some point or another......
