Why do I want a Winchester 94 30-30???????

Well picked me up some 30-30 dies.

POP,

I'm just now reading this thread. That .356 you bought is right pretty. I have bought three now, all older models w/o the crosslock safety. I gave one to a hunting partner this spring. I had developed two loads for it, one using the 220 grain Speer FN and the other using the 250 grain Kodiak FN. Either bullet did a skookum job on game. I'm working up some loads using 180 grain Speer FN now. If the weather warms slightly, I'll be going to the range to pop a few caps.

The .356 in a Model 94 is one cool rifle. I've used mine to take elk, mule deer, black bear and grizzly. It is a real thumper. I'm looking at a Model 94 in .375 right at the moment. The price is a bit steep as it is a commemorative, but this is one great calibre is great. We'll see. Those lever guns are just cool.

The Marlin 336 is an equally cool rifle. However, I've never owned one. Maybe I'll have to correct that, though I would likely get the 1895.

Long story short: my cousin's wife have a degenerative condition in her spine. After way too long putting up with the pain, she took one of his revolvers and killed herself. Understandible, he wanted all of his guns out of his house. So who is the closest gun crank? That'd be me. So I was going to store all his guns (not that many, really) until he wanted them back. Well, he called me up one day and told me, "you can keep 'em or sell them, whatever you want to do". So now I have a Model 94 .30-30. (I think. I didn't really look at it as I wiped it down with oiled up rag and buried it in the safe. I do know it has a receiver sight.)

On the wanting to acquire list:
a 24" barreled pre-crossbolt safety M94 .30-30; Marlin has done a line of 'Cowboy' guns, I want the long octagon barreled .45-70, a .38-55, and I think they did a 25-20 and a .32-20.

But I'm too busy trying to get more bolt guns and black rifles right now.
