My wife and I woke up at 3:45 AM, had a cup of coffee, and off to the range to beat the crowd and the heat. I closed the gate to the back range at our club and set up my steel target at the 525 yard mark. Got the wife behind the 6.5-47 Lapua, and dialed in 8.75 MOA and told her to just aim at the center of the steel target and fire away. We could barely make out the 8"X18" steel target at that distance. Incredibly, she still managed 4"-6 shot group.

Just to be fair with other club member, who were waiting to use the back range, we concluded our shoot at the 500 and moved to the 100 yard range.

I told my wife that I want her to work on her trigger and breathing control. She haven't done any serious shooting for the past 20 years. In spite of that, she was able to shoot several respectable 5 shot group at 110 yards. I think I just found a new shooting buddy. The only drawback was, I lost one of my rifle.

Several more trip to the range and I think my wife will be ready for the next 600 yards shoot next month.

Good shooting.....

Wife wants me to take her to the range tomorrow if it dries out enough...

She has never fired her Sig 238 I got her for our 41st Anniversary....nor her DPM Oracle.

Guess I'd better open the ammo locker and get organized.

Again..... your wife done good!!!

Very nice, Rommel. Congratulations to your good lady, and to you for having the good sense to marry such a fine woman.

Rommel,

Great shooting, congratulations to your bride.

Nice shooting on your wifes part! I dont think you lost your rifle though.....you found an excuse for a new build!!!

Very nice DF! Your wife can shoot! That is just awesome! Way to go. I don't mind losing rifles to the family. Anything to help them enjoy the sport a little more.

Scotty, Just kidding about losing the rifle. Actually, I removed the spacer on the AICS to reduced the length of pull but turned out I didn't need to do it. 13.5" is just perfect for her. Great that she'll be able to use any of my rifle without any modification.

Now that she is getting into it, I will have my smith build her a 6BR so that I can get my 6.5-47 back LOL.

That would be pretty cool DF...

Went out again today and this time I set up clay pigeons atop the backstop of our 500 meter target pit. The distance measured exactly 600 yards. Wifey had no problem picking up each one of the clay pigeon once I got the rifle dialed in.

She also improved her 5 shot group at 525 yards from 4 Inches to about 2 inches.

That is just exciting, Rommel. Congratulations to your good lady. You've done a fine job of training her and providing a quality product to ensure that she can hit the targets.

Thanks DrMike. She is very dedicated. It's her day-off today so she asked me if I can be late to work so she can practice shooting at long range. She is preparing for her first ever competition next month.

Well, that is just too cool. Let her know that there are a number of fellows here pulling for her to do well. It sounds as if she has some fine coaching.

Good work, judging by her shooting she will do well at the f class match, pretty tough to beat the 6.5x47 with a 130 vld at 600 or the 6br for that matter.
