i just bought some 30 caliber 180 grain winchester fail safe bullets. i plan to use them in my 300 wsm. i can't find any reloading info for this bullet with the caliber i am using. winchester claims these bullets are longer then most 180 grain bullets, and to be very careful when reloading them. normally i use a stoney point oal guage. does anybody know if that would work with this bullet? i am also looking for a good powder for this load. any info would help!!! thank you.....

Try RL 22 and H4831. Start at 65 gr and work up.

You should be able to use Barnes data CAREFULLY. Fail Safe's are very similarly constructed.

180 Swift Scirocco Hodgdon H-4831 70.0 2,929
Remarks: 64,000 psi; compressed

180 Swift Scirocco Hodgdon H-4350 64.0 2,950
Remarks: 63,900 psi

180 Swift Scirocco Hodgdon H-414 62.5 2,959
Remarks: 63,000 psi

180 Swift Scirocco Hodgdon H-380 61.0 2,884
Remarks: 63,400 psi

Swift Scorocco's are similar bullets too.
DISCLAIMER: these loads I got from LOAD DATA . COM.
They also have a disclaimer that states something on the order of
assuming no responsibility if you use these loads. As always, reduce loads accordingly and work up for YOUR RIFLE.

RL-19 is great powder for 300 WSM and the 180 FS.

With Fail Safe you need to use the min. load

This is due to the internal construction differences.

RL-19 MIN LOAD 63.0grains

RL-22 MIN LOAD 65.0grains
