Well after my friend got my winchester model 70 7mm wsm he liked it for a while until he saw the price of ammo ( He dont reload). So I traded him his smith and wesson I-Bolt 25-06 back for the winchester model 70 7mm wsm. I was looking around at the box that the rifle originally came in from the store and it said that the gun is a super shadow instead of the black shadow that I thought it was. So I am wondering what the accuracy of the super shadows and are they better than the black shadow? Thank you

Accuracy will be potentially identical. The 7mm WSM is one of my favourite cartridges, and I have great success with the Model 70. You will find it to be easy to load for.

I had a supper shawdow in 243 WSSM and I think the difference between the black shawdow and the super was the stock.
I could be wrong though, it's been a while.

I had a Black Shadow in .300 Mag, and it had no floorplate. I think the Super Shadows do have the floorplate.

This one does not have the floor plate.

The major difference between the black shadow and the super shadow is the stock. The supershadow has the rubber inlaid gripping areas (Hogue) versus the the raised plastic bumps. Also the Super shadow had (to my memory) a shorter bull type barrel. I could be wrong but I had a black shadow and remember looking at a lot of Super shadows and thinking the difference is small for the increased cost. It was and is very accurate.

No flamer here. Just reporting what I observed. When the 7mmWSM was first intro'd., I bought a Super Shadow. ALL ammo tested showed swelling just above the base of the case. This, to include Wincheser factory ammo. After cases were extracted, they would not go back into the chamber without a lot of force. I checked out the problem before contacting the maker and two gunsmiths were of the opinion that in order to wring max MV from the short case, Winchester had pushed the envelope a bit.
When I did contact Winchester they simply wanted my rifle back in exchage for a replacement, which I did. When I questioned Winchester, regarding what went wrong, they refused to respond. I range tested the replacement with a number of hand loads and factory ammo. No load would duplicate what I was already getting from my 7mmRemMag., without showing signs of too high pressure. I sold the 7mmWSM.
