Working dogs

Beautiful pictures. No doubt both would be at full alert if you called.

Her conditioning suffered over the summer as she wasn't taken for runs until mid August. We've only hunted six days for pheasant but she has not started limping. She is a little slower and more methodical in her quartering. I don't know if that's maturity or favoring the leg. The question will be long term durability.
Her work has been remarkable. On Saturday one of the guys wing tipped a bird that went into an acre of the heaviest cover we have. Took her 10 or 15 minutes chasing the bird underneath but she came up with it.

Sounds like the injury may have slowed her a bit but it has also helped her to find how to get the job done smarter and forced her to mature quicker which is a good thing. You'll probably see the birds she points sitting tighter since she will tend to spook them less with her slower approach.

I think your right. She had a great morning, my new dog had a great day as well. Hunted Molly in the morning Sugar in the afternoon.IMG_0693.JPGIMG_0695.JPG

I love to be out hunting with a good four legged friend!! Nice to see Molly out and about doing what she loves.

I really enjoy the bird hunting, don't mind helping out with the deer and elk either. My favorite time are my own deer and elk hunts but they only last a week. With the birds I start in September and go thru March. Gets me a lot of time outside with my best friends. It's a good life.
