Would you use this load for white tail?

Working wit my daughter's .250 Savage today trying to find a reduced recoil load. She shoots her .223 really well and took a nice doe last year with the 55 grain TSX. I had an accurate load worked up with the 87 grain Hornady and RL15 moving at sedate 2800 fps, but my daughter said it kicked too much.

So I switched gears and bought a pound of SR4759 to work up some loads, as I was recommended this powder by several people. I shot some groups today my best three shot group averaged 2340 fps with the Hornady 87 grain bullet, 19.5 grains of powder, and CCI primers. I don't think I'd have a problem using this load.

100 yard group!

I just don't think I'd try many 200 yard shots.

I think I should move it a quater inch left though. I just don't like moving to the left. ;)

The bullet will only have around 877 ft-lbs of energy at 100 yards. It does have a MPBR around 250 yards, on a 8" diameter tarvet. I'm sure it will work it just isn't getting there with any authority.

I took four antelope last year with that same bullet but admittedly it was travelling a little faster. I'm a proponent of power but one has to but the bullet where it belongs first so I'd have no issues with that load and bullet combination inside 100 Yards.

The daughter is going to be using the .223 again I think. She took a few practice shots today off the bipod sitting indian style. She didn't do too bad, but she'll have a better rest in the blind were using in a couple of weeks.

I would be willing to use that particular load inside of 100 yards. I do like more power, but it is sufficient. Your daughter appears to have her technique well in hand.

I am sure she will do fine  I have found once the animal is in sight recoil does not really become a issue
Remember have Fun, shoot Straight and most of all be Safe. Looking forward to photos & a great story.

Blessings,
Dan

That should work.
Best wishes to your daughter.
