This BAR did not want to shoot very well. I was trying to treat it like a bolt gun that could shoot and it just was not going to get there. Different powders and bullets but it just wasn't coming together.
I was determined to get the 200gn AB to shoot well enough to use this gun on Elk this fall. Hodgon Hybrid 100V was as close to getting there as I could. I even put one of those Limb Saver Vibration Dampener's on the barrel. Directions said to put up near forearm if not a free floating barrel. So that is where it went.
Out of chance I slide the "donut" to the end of the barrel and the next two shots were in the same hole at 100yds but to the right and down. I thought "COOL!!!" I made an adj to the scope and put up another target and .....

I guess there might be something to those vibration donuts. I'm going back out tomorrow morning to verify.
I cleaned out that barrel many times, it was really bad at first. It is starting to break in and not foul so bad. I'm only pushing about 2825ish with the WSM and 200AB but for now I'll take constancy in the groups and go hunting. Next spring I'll try to move up a little if there is room.

Speed looks great. Nothing wrong with that 200 at over 2800, and that sorta accuracy is excellent! Way to go. Give us a picture! Wanna see what the rig looks like.

A 200 grain AB at 2800 fps? Accuracy such as you show in the picture? Can't fault that data.

Looks great!..heck, that's bolt action accuracy coming out of a semi!.Nice, Lou

I would also be happy with those results at the very most a 200 gr bullet will be going 2900 fps and still have safe pressures. Overall what are your thoughts on the BAR and can you load one quietly if needed?

I put a Vortex HSLR 4x16x44 on it.

Gerry - So far I like the BAR / Scope combo. It is shooting ok and it is not too heavy compared to the Safari Grade. No jams and the trigger is surprisingly better then expected.
As too loading the chamber quietly. I tried to go through the motions with out a cartridge in the mag and I believe you just can't do it quietly. Holding the bolt and closing slowly it still turns the bolt the last 1/2" and it still makes noise. Maybe somebody else can do it or when the gun is better broken in it might be quieter.

Thanks for the info. That is a nice looking gun, hopefully the next picture we see of it, it will be laying there with a nice elk :)
