Wyoming Antelope this fall

This fall I will be driving to Montana for a combination Elk/Mule Deer hunt with the Outfitter that I used last year and was very successful and happy with. I am retired and have no time constraints limiting my hunting experience, so I was wondering if I am crazy to think about tying a Wyoming Antelope hunt in with the Montana hunt?

Wyoming hunting will be totally new to me and I do not want to go solo and end up on the wrong end of the law by being in the wrong area or inadvertently trespassing on private land.

I check in with my Montana Outfitter on November 1 and leave November 7. I have not done any web checking on Wyoming license application deadlines or seasons.

Does anyone have suggestions? All are welcome. Thanks in advance. Rol

You don't have much time. Deadline for WY Antelope is 15 March. No idea on seasons, except there are some in mid-October. Possibly later. Fotis will know more, as he lives out there, and may be able to advise you on "where" to try to hunt to avoid legal issues.

My bad. Thought it was the 15th.

You might check that, too, as both dates are listed as "deadline" dates for application. I'm sure it's because 15 Mar is a Saturday, but I'd call WY G&F before I waited til Monday, as several places on the site list 15 Mar (Saturday) as the deadline. Better safe than sorry.

Of course, Jim may already have called G&F on this and know it's the 17th, but I have not called them.

Sorry, it's the 15th. Don't be late:

I put in my applications last night.

Got my applications in for Wyoming mule deer and pronghorn too.

I was waffling this year. It's a long drive and a fairly expensive hunt compared to hunting the local hills here in Washington for mule deer. But... Wyoming has treated me well over the past dozen years with a bull elk, a pronghorn and three mule deer as I recall. I don't go every year, but it's always a good trip & hunt and I've always filled my tag.

Retiring this year, I'm a little tight with my money, but I decided the trip is worthwhile. Hoping for success!

For the OP - I'd recommend talking with some of our resident Wyoming experts, like Fotis. He may have some good tips for you. I've hunted private & public land in Wyoming and have done well in both, but I don't have any magic advice about how to find a good place to hunt. I don't think you'd have any trouble finding a place to hunt antelope though. There's a mess of 'em!

Regards, Guy

I'm considering going back to WY in 2016 for deer and antelope.
I had good luck in 2012 and filled all five of my tags. Make sure you get the leftover doe tags when they go on sale. That's what makes the cost of the trip worth it to me if looking to fill the freezer.

Thanks for the comments fellas, I am going to put antelope on my to do list for another year. Have a good weekend.

If you're willing to hunt does the WY leftover doe tags aren't on sale yet and would be a viable option.
I went to WY in 2012 for a DIY hunt with a friend that hunts WY every year. I took a buck but what made the trip most feasible was the four does I put in the freezer. It's great meat and I need to get back there soon.

...I was hesitant to chime in here since I don't have last year's antelope regs, but most seasons open early & are relatively short. I'm not even sure that there are any hunts that run till the end of Oct. so you would have ended up having to come out a couple of weeks early for antelope...

WY non resident deadline is 3/17, just saying.

Applications have been entered for a speed goat buck and doe.
