Saw one at a local store in 300 WSM. I'm not really a Browning guy, but this thing was speaking to me. Anyone have a review?

The price was kind of steep, I think it was like $1050 or 1100. About what the Win M70 Extreme Weather SS goes for, and those come with a B&C stock. Not sure about Brownings "Carbon Fiber" stock.

Anyway, kind of just window shopping. I have a 270 win and a 300 winnie. Not sure how a 300 wsm would fit in.

The 300 WSM and the 300 Win Mag are ballistic twins. As for the Stainless Stalker Carbon Fiber rifle, it is a fine rifle that would serve a hunter well. I've shot a few, and each gave from acceptable to excellent accuracy; they are good rifles--no better and no worse than others that are available.

Agree. If you already have a .300 Win mag that you like, you don't need a .300 WSM. It's virtually the same thing in a different package. I like my .300 WSM.

Then again, if you REALLY like the rifle, why not?

Yeah, my Ruger M77 300 winnie is pushing 200 grn Partitions really well.

I think with rifles, they are just addicting. But I like the ones I have, and I don't want to get a new one and have one of my others be a safe queen.

Just interested what you guys thought of those Brownings.

There is very little wrong with a 6lb 6oz .300WSM.... and a lot of stuff right.

I love my .300WSM- so much power in an easy carrying package. It doesn't do the heavy bullets as well as the bigger cased ones but 180gr AccuBond bullets with a case full of RL17 solves most ballistic equations pretty handily.

I looked the rifle up on Browning's web site- very attractive rifle too.

...that CF Stalker is kinda striking & I really like the Brownings, also a big fan of the .300WSM, tho mine's a Tikka T3 Lite. Good chance it might spoil ya for that .300 WM. Last couple of Brownings I bought, sighting in @ 200yds w/ 20-30 round thru 'em...

I have experience with two standard Browning Stainless Stalker X-bolts. These did not have a fluted barrel or the carbon fiber stock. Just plain barrel and a plain synthetic stock.

My own rifle in 7mm-08 would shoot MOA groups with handloads. I shot a five shot 3-3/4" group at 400 yards with it. For factory ammo it "liked" the Win. Supreme about the best and did shot one five shot MOA group with it. I never got around to trying Nosler factory ammo in it.

My co-workers rifle in 270 WSM shot MOA with Nosler factory ammo. It also shot MOA with some handloads he got from his cousin that were not developed for his rifle.

The features I really liked about the rifles were:
1. The flush fit detachable magazine.
2. The two position tang safety with the unlock button on the bolt.
3. Four screws for EACH base.
4. Adjustable trigger.
5. SS & composite stock.
6. After break-in and some use, the barrel stopped showing copper residue during cleaning.

I was very happy with mine and would still have it if I didn't switch from right-handed to left-handed shooting. My co-worker still has his.
