Well, I've mostly given up trying ammo for the Rem 597, 22LR. Here's the best group I can get for now, from Remington Yellow Jacket. It's about a half inch, shot at 25 yards.

I can also get about a half inch group from CCI SV, but I think the Yellow Jacket is meaner, so it's the winner.

I also tried: crap Win / Rem various, thunderbolt, etc. = Terrible
Wolf = .75 inches
Rem Eley Target = .75 inches
Stinger, Rem Target, something else, bigger than that.

I am out of choices locally, and I ordered the Wolf from Midway (I "needed" to place an order anyway). Following the shooting Sunday I bought a 500-round brick of Yellow Jacket, and I do believe that's all she'll be fed for some time, which may tighten things up a bit more.

I could replace the stock, bed the action, get a new barrel, etc etc. I think if I'm going to do all that I should get a bolt action rimfire instead.

The other good thing about the Yellow Jacket is it would have been one of my choices for rabbits anyway. I love me some Rabbit with Mustard Sauce.

That will work.

I have a Remington M541T-HB that loves 22 Yellow Jackets.
I shot a red squirrel in the head at 75 yds, my longest kill. I have also shot a couple of mice off the bird feeder at 20 yds. I have a VX-II 4-12x40mm with target turrets on it.

JD, I guess it was you who made the favorable comment about Yellow Jackets a couple of weeks ago. Because you said you were getting very good accuracy with it I decided to try some in my 52. I had a box of it on my shelf that hadn't even been touched in several years. It still is not nearly the most accurate in my rifle, but it shoots darned well and it may have to become my jackrabbit medicine. I need to get my hands on a couple of bricks!
