This attack occurred on July 3. The CO was airlifted to Vancouver General for surgery. Here is a more extensive news article about the attack. It includes some rather graphic photos of the injury he sustained. Consequently, this was a sow with cubs that frequented an area with fruit trees.

These bears can be problematic, especially for the unwary.
