...got the new 4.5X14 VX-3 CDS mounted on the .325 WSM Mod. 70. fergot the itty-bitty hex wrench for the CDS cap, so I was still a couple of clicks high for my 200yd. "zero" when I hit the "Zero Stop", but that should be pretty easy to cure. 220grs. of goodness hitting w/ a ton & a half of energy @ 200yds...

That's putting 'em in there, Gene. My 325WSM shoots 225 grain Sierra GKs and 200 grain PTs into a similar pattern. It is a delightful cartridge, for certain.

That will make for some nice elk medicine.

Them dang model 70's...they like those little clover leaf patterns!

Those three- and four-leaf clover patters are why they're so very "lucky" for those who use them.

Very nice Gene. That's a sure thing in the elk woods! What's the specs on your load?

...220gr. Sierra SBT/ 63gr. RL-17/ CCI 250/ COAL 2.900"// MV 2790fps/ 3800ft.lbs., near Sierra's MAX load...

...about the only rifle I run a single load from, why it got a CDS. The 0.520+ BC of the 220gr. SBT, along w/ the extra 100-150fps from the RL-17 takes the .325 WSM from what in the reloading manuals is a fairly ho-hum round, up onto the door step of the .338 WM w/ 210-225gr. bullets w/ a lot less "BOOMFLASH!!!". It isn't giving up much, but my .325 is a lot more fun to shoot than any .338 I've ever shot, even the Browning BARs. The relatively poor BC's of the other 220gr. bullets, the Swift, Woodleigh, even the discountinued Hornady (I managed to find a couple boxes) make the .325 compare poorly, but that Sierra load runs it to an honest 600yd. round, still packing 2K ft.lbs w/ only 10MOA of drop. Besides, "it's fun to shoot!!!"...

Dang, that's a good one Gene. I run the 225 PT and Speer 225 SPBT at around 2900 from my 338 and ballistically I think your probably just about the same as me, with a high BC Sierra..

The 325 is on the short list for sure. Your nudgings are certainly not going unnoticed!

Gene, I think your Elk rifle has shown you what she is can do .
Looking forward to a story with photos:)!!

Blessings,
Dan
