my dilemma with berger bullets in my 6.5 gibbs?
well went back to the yellow box target bullets and they behave exactly like berger says the orange box are sposed to in my 6.5 gibbs 8 twist cut rifled kreiger barrel. took 2 bucks with the round so far at 3160 fps. one at 60 yards exited a double shoulder shot, one at 367 was quartering away impact was behind last rib, lungs were full of "grit" buck went down, stumbled to his feet and made it 40 yards. man after 4 years its working out!

I trust the yellow box as a big game bullet much more than the orange box.

BTW the new hybrids are a joy to work up loads with.

fotis, just got a box of the hybrids, the old thick jacketed 140's had a BC of .64, the hybrids say .618 did they change anything or just refigure, the reason I ask is the PN# of the old bullets is 26414OV, the hybrid yellow box PN# is 26414. doesn't really matter I run the BC at .7 to make my trajectory match my charts

Here is my first load attempt with the 230 gr 308 in my 30-378

Close up picture so it looks bigger but is measures .35" or so

ok, 3 for 3 DRT with the yellow box bergers

after seeing a lot of does from the berm of the corridor but only seeing small bucks, once again this morning I sat on top glassing, after watching 3 large gobblers strutting for hens in the valley below at 9:00 AM I catch movement at 370 yards, the trusty 6.5 was put into action and like most of the time the buck hit the ground without so much as a kick. been a good season, not a huge buck but above average for this area

Very nice! Glad you got everything working like you want it with that 6.5.

Awesome I will be trying the hybrids RR

You are shooting the yellow box made for "targets"?????????????

yep, because the orange box absolutely couldn't take the fast twist cut rifleing of my barrel, entrance wounds were 1/2" deep craters about 4" in diameter, when I skin him I will make another report on performance of the match bullets.

Thank your sir.

I sure hope Berger gets their stuff together!!! I was not too impressed with the orange box vld's especially in the accuracy department. The hybrids so far rock!

they both shoot exactly the same in my rifle, however, I'm using the last few old match bullets I have before cracking open the hybrids, they are however the same PN# with the exception of the OV on the end of the old match PN, I did notice the G1 BC of the hybrids is .618, and the old match bullets say .64, so possibly they changed something reckon we will find out.

That's good info RR and Fotis. Pretty interested to see what it looks like when your done skinning.

entrance wound from the orange box bergers, range was 230 yards, MV 3160 fps, had 3 in a row do this, will post a pic when I skin the buck, think its a quartering away spine shot so hopefully we can see a difference, buck didn't act spine shot, he just crumpled and never twitched.

My word !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DRT !!!!!!!!!!!

I saw the same type of hit on a buck antelope last year, from a 100 gr. factory load from a .270wsm @ 200 yds. Hunter lost 50% of the animal @ the processing plant.

Massive damage. It is small wonder that he didn't move.

Actually DOC crappy damage. All superficial

That is what RR is saying
