Massive damage. It is small wonder that he didn't move.

Actually DOC crappy damage. All superficial

That is what RR is saying
exactly, had 3 in a row do this shooting orange box bergers, I had the 6.5 built in 2007, feed it stuff it likes and it is absolutely the most accurate rifle I own, my delemma has been finding a bullet it likes that will kill game, when my daughter gets home from school and gets to see the buck I will skin it and take a pic of the damage from the yellow box match grade target bullets.

Got ya'. Man, the eyes are going as well as the mind. Focus, Mike.

ok skinning is done, now before I start want to add I am very unaccustomed to this kind of bullet performance BUT! it is exactly what berger describes as the intent of these bullets
the POI was 3" below the spine on a wandering buck at 370 yards, and yes I did not make a good shot, thats what ya get using a 14# rifle with the scope set at 25X on a moving target, but the bullet made what I estimate was 2" of penetration then violently expanded, like berger claims they will

wound looks almost superfishel from the outside and if using a controlled expansion bullet I'm sure the deer would have survived the shot, however since it was a berger, the expansion inside was tremendous the spine was clearly broken and alot of trauma to the tissue in the vicinity of the spine, basicly the buck never stood a chance

still not 100% sold on them, need to check bullet performance on a medieum that will stand still

That is some serious tissue disruption! And these are the target VLD's or the newer hybrids? I ask because my 6.5 is showing up on Wednesday.... 8)

I'd really like to see what these would do tucked behind the shoulder for a double lung type shot....

they are the old match bullets PN#264140V, made back when there was no orange bx and no hybrids, just a thin and a thick jacket, these are the thick ones
I have duble lunged 1 deer with them, range was 419 yards, exit was less than nickel sized, more than a dime, but the bullet hit nothing but meat and a rib going out

sorry for the stupid question!
i am confused as to what berger bullet you are using?

is it the yellow target or the orange hunting? The damage looks to good to me. I think that a bullet that works when a bad shot is made is a good bullet to me.

In fact that would be the best test media.

last pic was the yellow box target bullets, the first pic was the orange box hunting bullets.
