Nice !! I am understanding that winter kill in Colorado will not be a problem this season coming up and it should cost more points to get drawn but good to hear they had a decent winter!
Hogwild, spoke with the motel owner in the area we hunt (oak creek) and was told the winter snows were average and the kill seemed down from previous years. Their seeing both elk and deer in the meadows feeding so it sounds like fall should very promising.
I wish I was close enough or lived in an area like Guy as I would be real happy to spoil a few of them  my friend in Colorado I talk to all the time called the CDOW and that is where he got his info ! I have 6 Muley points and will need to use them soon as I am not getting any younger  I have on a few trips to visit seen Cow Elk standing under those big roadside advertisements in the middle of Raton, NM in broad daylight which is not too uncommon ! Our issue in NM with deer is poaching that nobody seems to care about as everyone knows it's going on but nothing is being done? Only a few places to find deer on public land anymore! We have huge deer here but we also have huge ranches the roam on and have no pressure on! Ok I will stop my rant
Hogwild, I drive through Raton on my Way North on 25.That first mountain (the one that burned) always had Elk on the hillsides. Never did see any deer. That really is a spectacular area.
Nice picture Guy. I love the green and the great colors. I did see a nice Blacktail last week with antlers as tall as his ears, and with knobs showing where the forks will start. He was in the neighbors driveway. He might be a nice buck in a few months.
