Your go to powders.

If I had to limit myself to just those I've always had good luck with and find a wide variety of use with:
R15, R19, Varget

I could get by with these Lilgun, AA1680, H4895, & H4831.

I use these:

22 hornet Lilgun & AA1680
221 FB AA1680
223 rem Benchmark
270 win Hybrid 100-V (Still need ti shoot work up loads)
35 rem H4895
358 win H332 & H4895 ( have TAC to try)
35 whelen Reloader-15 ( have yet to reload but H4895 will work too)

Most of my shooting is in obsolete military calibers similar to .308 win except for the 6.5 swede. I also shoot .280 rem and load .270 win for a friend.

In .280, .270 and 6.5 swede, IMR 4350 is all I use. Also use that for heavy 174BTHP match loads in 7,62X54r. I've gotten top accuracy and near top velocity in every application suitable for that burn rate I've tried it in.

Still searching for my "fast" powder. I've been burning through a large, old, stock of IMR 4320 I got from the widow of a deceased shooter at our club. She was happy to get a fair price, I was happy to get a bit of a deal. I've had great success with this powder in 7.5X55 swiss, winning several Vintage rifle matches and taking plenty of deer in the wife's .308. It shoots really well in these rounds but is not suitable for my M1 Garand. This is also a bit of a red-headed stepchild of powders and seems to not be listed for most rounds for which it should be suitable.

Hoping to test Varget or 4064 soon. Open to suggestions. I've dabbled with other powders, mostly ball types and found some superb loads for individual calibers but haven't found anything as verstatile as the above 2.

Oh boy powders now this is fun

Lets see
220 swift RL-15 H-414 and H-4831
260 Rem H-414 RL-19 H-4350 H-4831
280 Rem H-4831 IMR-7828
300 Win Mag H-4831 RL-22 H-1000 and Retumbo
338 Ultra H-1000 (Retumbo and RL-25) showed great promise
35 Whelen RL-15

I start at Blue Dot and go all the way to H-50BMG though as far as selection goes so I am really covered for anything when I want to do some tinkering. Some of the powders I have are for rifles I no longer have or for rifles my friends have that I load for.

And just as a note here about powders I worked up a load for one of my close friends 300 Win short mag with Superformance and it is an excellent powder in this one instance. Load work up was easy and accuracy was insane. I am going to give this a try in a couple of cartridges that are not listed in the data next year when I get some time after the minus 40 is gone.So hopefully I will have some data to share with you guys for cartridges that are not listed in the Hogdon data for this powder. I think I am going to need to get quick load in the future.

X 2 on the Varget or RL 15 for the 308, TAC should be good too.

IMR 4350, RE22, Hunter, & Big Game are my favorites for rifles, Titegroup & H110 for handguns, Promo for 12 gauge.

I call RL15 "Magic Pixie Dust" and it is my go-to for new cartridges within its range of suitability. It has really shined in my 6-250, 257 Roberts & AI, 30-30 Win, 30-06, and 338-06.

Even in cartridges where it isn't ideal it is often extraordinarily accurate whether speed is satisfactory or not.

Next is IMR-4350, then Ramshot Hunter.

I know many have really flocked to Hodgdon's 4350 for temp sensitivity but I picked IMR up early on in my loading career and in spite of having worked in a wide range of temperatures I haven't had major issues.

Hunter is one that I've just recently grown to appreciate. It has really shined for me with heavier bullets in my 6-250 as well as in my 257 AI w/ 90s & 100s. I have gotten great velocity from 165s in the '06 as well. I love the fact that it is just a tad slower than RL19 but being a ball powder allows greater load density and therefore speed. An advantage that in my mind cannot be overstated in tiny cases like the 6 especially.

Same here Eric. RL15 is one of the great ones! I could do a whole lot with just RL15!

Works for my 35 whelen and 220 Swift but that is about it

I bet it would work for a 45-70 and 444 as well, just never tried it. What about your 308? I know it would work there too.

Granted, it wouldn't be fabulous in our slow burners, but it would still get by in the 300WSM class cartridge.

The 308 adores the 165 AB with Varget at 2750.

The finnwolf puts them at .35" at 100 yards . Would not touch a thing!
