That load has shot very very well in two 30-06 rifles I have owned. H4350 also seems to be as fantastic as IMR4350. This coming from many on this forum.

No reason really. I just think Federal makes a really good primer. I'm sure Winchesters would work just fine.RAY":29uw7vho said:

My "go-to" loads -
56 grains of H4350, 165 Partition, WLR - 2800 fps mv - elk load (57.5 is the book max, and it gives me nearly 2900 fps. I like the 56-56.5 range better though, they hold a tighter group in my rifle. Even 55.5 shoots well).
58 grains of H4350, 150 Partition, WLR - 2900 fps mv - deer load (have also used the 150 BT with this recipe and the BT actually seems to shoot a bit tighter groups).
I prefer the Nosler cases but see very little difference in velocity or accuracy when I use W-W or R-P cases. I am fully sold on the WLR primers in this rifle but have used CCI 200s and 250s as well as the Remington 9.5s in the past. H414 used to be my go to powder but I prefer the H4350 or even IMR4350 after all my years hunting and shooting it seems to be the least climatically maleable powder in this cartridge and several others I use.

Shoots 2700-2750 and is less than 1 moa out of my Ruger M77 and Sauer 202.
I have used it to shoot one doe and it made a perfect exit hole the size of a golf ball. That was on a behind the shoulder shot at 60 yards.

For all loads remember the 30-06 is maxed at 60000 PSI. Some of these loads are over book max, and I wouldn't recommend that for a new handloader. Once you get a bit of experience you'll learn more about pressure and its relationship to velocity, and develop your own opinion of what you think is prudent. Until then I wouldn't recommend going over book max without much discussion.
Most bullets loaded around 0.03 inches off the lands.
155 Nosler Custom Competition
59.2 grains IMR4350

If I were to start over from scratch I would get H4350, some 165 Accubonds or Partitions, and some 165 Custom Competitions or Sierra Matchkings for practice. Load to max with H4350 and don't waste money or time on other bullets or powders.

IMR4451 seems like it might have some promise also, but it's too new for me to have had an opportunity yet! Supposedly a similar burn rate to IMR4350, but more temp stable and with a decoppering agent.

My standard .30-06 load:
21" barrel
165 Nosler Part @ 2750 fps, 58 H4350, CCI 200
From a 24" barrel it's doing roughly 100 fps more. Good accuracy. I was loading 58 grains of H4350 before 57.5 became the Nosler book max...
Hodgdon still lists 59 grains as max, with a 165 gr Sierra SPBT, for over 2900 fps.

Like so many others on this thread I have had excellent success over the years with both IMR and H 4350 with bullets weighing 150-200 gr. Those two powders just work well.......

IMR4064 and Win 760 has been good to me with 130gr Speer HP and 150 gr Nosler PAR/Hornady IB or SST bullets.
Excellent accuracy in quite a number of rifles and better speed over my chrono than IMR4350
