This was my go to rifle for a few years. M70 featherweight in 30-06, won it from my gun club, the first deer I shot field dressed at 240 pounds and the rack scored 160 3/8 B&C, the same year my first son was born. This is a pic of his first deer, shot with that rifle, now it belongs to him. The glass is a VX11 3X9
Thanks, I put a timney trigger in it and it has dual dovetail mounts and rings plus I freefloated it. I had a pre 64 30-06 with a B&L 2.5X10 I was hoping he would pick because it was too darn heavy for me to lug around. I got myself a 7mm08 with the so called CRF featherweight to replace it. He got himself a TC Venture in 308 this past summer but no venison. Loads his own ammo too. 8)
The Featherweight 30-06 is a great rifle. I picked one of the newer FW chambered in that cartridge two years ago. It shoots far better than it should and smacks deer with real authority. One could do so much worse than owning a 30-06 for all hunting in NA.
my go to rifle is a rem. 700 custom deluxe 7mm mag. The reason is,it will shoot 140 bt&ab,150 bt,160 ab, all handloads. And winchester supreme 160 partitions into less than an inch and within 1 inch of p.o.i.Plus its never let me down.Oh the scope Bushnell elite 3200 3x9x50
Absolutely terrific rifles here guys - those photographed, and not. It's pretty neat to see and hear about favorite rifles from other hunters. Am hoping more guys will share theirs!
I used to shoot & carry an ABolt II .338 WinMag - SS, 25" PacNor fluted barrel installed by J Noveske, ended up with DNZ mounts and Leupold 6x42 - It just felt right and shot tiny little groups with 200's & 225"s but alas, a good friend of mine who guides for bears in AK spring & fall talked me out of it (only because I am such a good friend) so I says to myself "self, why not try one of those lightweight Tikka T-3 in 338?" so I did ... another story but that one's gone - I currently shoot a Kimber Montana 325WSM and I must say that it is a nice hunting rifle in every way, so much so that I decided I had to own a Montana in .308, jump to present ... that little .308 has become my go to rifle, so much that I am constantly searching for reasons why I don't just carry it for EVERYTHING Gk
Kimber 8400 Classic in 270 WSM topped with a Sightron SII Big Sky 3-9x42. Spits 130 gr Interbonds into 1/2" groups @ 3360 FPS and kills stuff where it stands.
