I mentioned a while back that I was getting one of these. Well, to make a long story short, it did not happen. I was originally going to get a stainless steel model, but ended up with the wood stocked blued one.

Just arrived :)

Now I need to scope it and get some loads worked up!

That should be one of the top moose rifles around. I have a 9.3x74R (same power level) and I really like it.

The 286gr nosler Partition is THE bullet for the 9.3x62. I have only shot the 286gr nosler and 270gr Speer in my 9.3x62 they were both very accurate but the 270gr speer is too soft a bullet for anything bigger than whitetails. I had a 270 he speer completely come apart in the neck of a small spike bull at 15 yards. The Partition has performed flawlessly on moose out to 300 yards

I haven't tried the 286gr hornady but I know a couple guys who did and they all still shoot partitions. Considering that the hornady are much cheaper that should tell you something.

The 250 nosler and Barnes TSX are supposed to be good also but I don't have any experience with them.

As to optics there is nothing better than a low power variable. 1-4, 1.5-5, 2-7 leupy's are really hard to beat. I have a 2.5 scout on mine. I put a leupold 2-7 euro on my dads whelen and think it would be perfect for your needs.

Big game, h414, 4350, re15 and re17, and varget are good powders to try out. Big game and h4350 have been my choice so far.

I also use the 250 Accubonds when I can find them on sale. They are accurate and fly at over 2500 fps. I also bought 200 of Norma 286 bullets fore $25/50 bullets. They are also very accurate and hard hitting, proven big game bullets

Boomer how do you like the rifle?

I have both the stainless and blued versions, both synthetics but the blued 270 wears a Boyds walnut now.

The stainless was finished rougher than the blued but they're both good shooters.

Your thoughts and impressions? Pictures?

It is very well made. I have four Zastava's now :)
My 6.5x55 is a stainless synthetic and I agree that the finish is a bit rougher. Shoots like a dream though.

Will post some pictures when I get home.

Thanks Boomer.

I'm probably going to add another Zastava or two. Definitely getting one of the mini M85s. Most likely will go custom and I am thinking 6.5 Grendel would make a nice light deer rifle!

Got some PRIV brass, Hornady dies and 285gr PRIV bullets. Just need a scope and we are ready for some testing :)

They seem to be a good gun for the money and they also come in a lefty version too........

That 9.3x62 would make a fantastic moose and grizzly gun.

I wouldn't be disappointed with the blued/wood version at all. That is a fantastic looking rifle and in a cartridge that is more practical than most realize. Yes, the 9.3 has some serious cool factor to it!

Must have been shopping at Tradeex Canada :)

It will be interesting to hear how you find the PRVI brass, they appear to be some good value brass.

Sure looks as if that was the case. I've heard good about Privi brass. Your workup should be interesting.

Wow, congrats on the 9.3x62. It is one of the cartridges I would like to have in the future. Excellent ballistics and seems pretty danged optimal for the case. RL17 seems like it really shines in that case as well. Good luck and post up your results.

Rifle looks great as well.

Yes, Tradeex indeed :)

I might have some problems locating RL17. I will check around, but might have to try RL15 or Varget to start.

Somewhere in the 62 - 64 grain area with H-4350 and the 286 grain Hornady Interlock I had great accuracy in my 9.3x62. It was a slightly compressed load, but no pressure problems.

My 9.3x74R likes 63.0 gr of IMR 4350. Their loads should be close in pressure as they are nearly so in velocity.
