Thanks SE. It's about as perfect a heavy elk rifle I could want. I'm geekier to get shooting longer with it. It seems to be screaming for some 500 + range time.
Scotty have ya tried the 250's around 2600 fps + with some Varget or H4895 ? It is slinging them 225's nicely and I would have thought from looking at Nosler data that you might have tried these combos and maybe I missed ya talking about some of these combos? I will say that that rifle looks very sweet with that optik atop and I am sure it will be no time before it gets bloody ! Looks like a bear has some sad news coming his way ! I really like the stock selection with the stainless and that Leupold really takes that rifle to the top of the sexy list !!I agree it needs stretched out especially with the 225's !
Haven't fired a 250 thru it yet Terry. I had to pick from 225's or 250's and I flipped a coin. I "might" try them out though. Still have some time left. I did run some 270's out at 2700 and those were very impressive as well. Lots of great choices really.
Scotty that is one bad mama jamma. That rig will kill elk all day long and looks very pleasant to carry which IMO is a HUGE plus since carrying a rifle and pack is what you do most of the time while elk hunting.
Scotty all jokes a side, You have one very nice rifle in the Newton. I would be prouder than all get out if it were mine. You have something to crow about with that one for sure. You make me wish my M70 had a magnum bolt so I could get JES to rebore and chamber it for the Newton.
