Finally got a chance to fire a few rounds out of the Remington 700 SPS.
I haven't shot in a while and was never all that good from the bench so some of these didn't seem so bad for the first loads.
It doesn't look like the 64 grain bullets are going to work so well.

Here's something that might help. Dad's group, fired from a Remington varmint rifle with the factory barrel at 100 yards. Dad was well into his 80's when he fired this.

Worth noting the short bullet, high, but not max velocity. And H380 powder, a classic choice for the 22-250 cartridge. Sometimes I think we just keep trying to reinvent the wheel, when generations before managed to solve the riddle before we even tried.

Why does your bottom target say both 64 grain and 55 grain bullets?

Just saw that. Oh, wait a minute, I can see some are marked with "v" marks and others with a 1. Okay, got it! :)

Ya, the 64's may need some work. Otherwise you're likely on the right track.

Regards, Guy

Try adjusting seating depth. I found them to pretty easy to tune. The exception might be if your 22-250 has a 1-14 twist.

Looks like there might be some hope after all. Since I’ve already got the bullets, I might as well keep trying.

May as well, they should work out well, if you can find that sweet spot. I remember JD338 telling me that he got the 64's to shoot well from a standard twist 22-250. I think!

My daughter hunts with a Ruger Am. Compact in 22-250 that I load with the 64gr BSB. I use BL-C2 in Winchester cases though. With the 18” barrel it gets to 3100 fps and it flattens whitetail. As for accuracy 1.25” @ 100yds is good enough for her. It is a good hunting combo.
