Hi all. I'm considering getting a 14" 6mm 30-30 Ackley Improved for a TC Contender G2 pistol. I believe it is the same as 6mm Bullberry Improved? I can't seem to find much if any load data for this cartridge. I'm curious if I this cartridge has higher performance than a more normal 6x45 which I have plenty of data on.

I'm mostly interested in 55gr lead free ballistic tips, 80gr ttsx and 90gr E-tips. No big deal, this is strictly out of curiosity at this point but thank you if you somebody does take the time to run this.

It's such an odd chambering that I'm thinking about just going with a 30-30 Improved instead. I've never had a wildcat before, so the 6mm 30-30 Improved just kind of peaked my interest. 243 is great but I've messed with it a lot. I just want to try something new.

I had to go look.

The 6mm/30/30 is identical to the 22/30/30 except for the neck diameter and this is even a better cartridge than the 22/30/30 and has proven to be highly satsifactory for use in lever action and single shot rifles For example, the Moddel 99 Savage .22 High Power rifle can be easily converted to 6MM/30/30 by reboring and rechambering the barrel and make a slight adjustment in the action to create a rifle which for all practical purposes is equal to the .243 Winchester. I states where the .22 high power has been outlawed, the 6mm/30/30 offers asolutionto the problem. Cases are made by necking 30/30 or .32 Special to 6MM which normally requires three operations, plus fireforming. The 6MM/30/30 has a case capacity which is almost ideal for the 6MM bore.
(Thus spaketh P.O. Ackley)
The following data was in Ackley's book and should be used with extreme caution One, I believe the powders mentioned were made when DuPont was making the powder before selling it to IMR in Canada. I don't know if IMR is still making the powder of id Hidgdne has somehow taken over production. Starting a good 10 percent below and working up should keep you out of trouble. Also, I believe those loads were fired in a rifle and velocities are probably estimated on the high sife. Much of the data in Ackley's books are quite high pressure and to what level is unknown. Most likely well above anything SAMMI would approve,
