Shooting a 280 AI. 7mm (.284") 150 gr ABLR and 61.0 grs RL22 at a MV 3100 fps, I recovered 2 bullets from water jugs at 100 yards. Both bullets were recovered in the 4th jug.
They measure .550"; 79 grs and .517"; 77 grs.

That's pretty good penetration, and ~50% weight retention should ensure more than adequate hydrostatic shock for any game I would hunt. Good stuff, Jim.

That looks like fun, I have to try it and see if I can recover some from my 300 Wby.

Yes, I would use this load for elk.
Dr Mike shot a bull elk with this bullet a few days ago.

I snagged the last two boxes my LGS had on the shelf yesterday. Now we'll see if my .280 Rem. likes them.

I found two boxes of the 168 grain ABLR ammunition on SPS (Blems). I will get out in the next week or so to try it in my 7mm Rem Mag.
 





Recovered out of my Idaho buck. This was the kill shot. Was about a 75 yard shot. Left the muzzle at 3,000 fps. The first shot that hit high in the shoulder and exited high on the off side of the spine. I'm pretty sure that Nosler was going for a "shock and awe" effect when they designed these bullets. They nailed it!
 
VERY nice Jake. That bullet looks excellent.. I believe they hit a huge home run with the ABLR..
 
I simulated a long rang expansion/penetration test with the 7mm 150 gr ABLR using a 7x30 Waters. The load was 26.0 grs RL 15 which generated a MV of 1776 fps from the 14" barrel. My 280AI is pushing this bullet at 3100 fps so the lower speed would be equivalent to 950 yds which is 1766 fps according to my drop chart.

Both bullets were recovered in the 5th jug at 30 yds.
The bullet on the left lost a pedal but total weight was 121.1 grs and expanded to .549".
The bullet on the right weighed 115.5 grs and expanded to .561".

I think this is pretty impressive performance.
