Questions for those who have use this.
How clean does it burn?
How is the ES?
Accuracy?
Muzzle flash?
I have a project that I’m working on with my 458WM. I’ve use a lot of Blue Dot and 5744 both of which are hard to find.
Any feedback will appreciated.

Thanks , Rick

I have used H4895 for my .308 using the 150 Ballistic Tips, it was so accurate, burns clean, single digit ES / SD and temp stable. I have used full power and reduced loads without any issues.

Good to hear , and thanks guys. H4895 is available locally.
The original plan was to run the Hornady 410gr subsonic with TrailBoss. That plan fell apart , now I’m looking to run them around 1500-1600fps.

I used H4895 at about 70% in a 30-06 Tika. I made the loads with 130 grain bullets. My reason was so those who wanted to shoot a larger round but not get beat up could ring steel at 100 and 200 yards. I have not run the loads over my chronograph but I have a four shot group my wife shot at 100 and all four holes are touching so it must be a pretty good load. After that I just just about out of H4895 and could not find any around here. A few months later I got very lucky and found a new 8 pound jug for $250 at a local gun show.

I've worked with H4895 in reduced loads a fair amount . I doubt if I ever checked ES , or SD numbers with it seeing as these would be 200 yard max ammo . I never seen a problem using it . didn't seem dirty . wasn't position sensitive . no hang fires . it just worked well , for me . accuracy was usually pretty good . if your interested , you should be able to search this forum , and find some of my reduced load work , I posted a lot of it .

I used to have a 458 WM and ran mostly light loads in it. Looking back at my notes IMR or H4198 will work for you as well. I was running 300 gr. Sierra or Hornady with 50 grains of IMR4198 for a shade over 1800 fps. It was a pussycat in the heavier rifle. If using either 4895 I just stick to the 60% rule. Both burned clean but 4198 a little cleaner for me.

I going to try to target 1500 to 1600fps with the 410 gr Sub-X bullets. I could get H4198 locally , but $80/lb. So I’m going the route of the 60% H4895 , cheaper. I’ve shot a lot of Blue Dot loads thru this rifle in the past , would be my first choice if available. I have a 18” barrel on order for this project.
