Remington 7600 Rifle

Welcome to the forum. The 35 Whelen is a great round and there are several fellas here that have them. Good luck with your search for a 7600 in 35 Whelen.

I'm also looking for a 7600 in a 35 cal or a carbine in other calibers if that's what it takes. It appears I am late to the party and if I want to play, I'm going to have to pay.

See the maple one on there for 3,999. That came from Grice's here. The store I mention often that I know the family very well. Mr. Grice made a deal with Remington to run that special maple stock and they made them as a Grice exclusive and only did one run of them. All 250 went through his store. He also had them do a limited run on a Black and heavy grain laminate editions around the same time, I'm not 100% sure, but I think those were exclusive just to Grice's as well.

a few years ago , Grice did a special run on the 35 W , black syn , in the 7600's . it might be worth a call , but I'd bet they are gone .

I got a hard time thinking on dropping 4 grand on Remington pump. Back in the 80’s my brother got a 7600 in 308 Win for $385 at the local hardware store. Man times have changed.
You and me both. I watched the Steelers game with the Grice's yesterday. I showed him that post on broker. He said he's about 95% sure they sold those guns for $600 each when they went through the store, which was a little more than the non maple variant. To think someone got it for that price and is now potentially selling it for 4k.. I would have bought three haha.

Another solution for a purely hunting rifle is to just make one.

This one started out as a straight .243Win. I had JES bore it out to 358Win and my smith cut the barrel to 19" and cerakote it.

It could have just as easily been a 35W, but I wanted it for our deer drives, and didn't need the 35W oomph or recoil. I just found another 7600 in .243Win at a local auction for $550:

It's in better shape than the one I transformed and I'm still trying to sort out what I'll do with it.

Fantastic resolution. Roughly what do you think you had in it doing everything you did?

Base 7600 off of GB to my door $750
JES Rebore $350
Synthetic stock set $225
Barrel chopped, re-crown and CeraKote $300

Rifle: $1625. But a base 35W "hunting rifle" would be about $1000 after re-boring depending on how much the doner rifle cost you.

Leupold VX3HD 1.5-5X "Twilight Hunter": $551.79 (Mil Discount)
Warne QD rings: $130.00
Pic Rail mount: $26.99

So for my idea of the "perfect deer drive carbine", $2333.78

You're still well under the asking price of most all the 35 cal 7600's I've seen of late and your all in cost is ready to hunt, scope and all! This may not be a bad option at all.

Can anyone explain to me why these guns have gotten so expensive? I've watched the prices steadily climb but can't seem to identify a root cause.
I own three, a Grice black synthetic 7600 in 280, a 1980's 7600 in 270, and a 1960's 760 30-06.
