this seasons hunting plans

Just got home from the Doc. I need a partial knee replacement. Good news is the Doc thinks I’ll be able to put it off for a while as long as I don’t really screw up. Will start a regimen of shots, first a lubricant to sooth the bone on bone surface, cartridge is gone. In a couple of weeks will hit it with cortisone. Got the first shot an hour ago, not ready to go for a hike but the pain is gone for the first time in two weeks. I’ll make it elk hunting and then Africa in spring.

Hoping your replacement goes well!
And that you are in great shape for your safari come May!

My aunt here in Canada has had both knees replaced. First one went great and the second, went poorly, requiring a second replacement this summer. Still not great, but better than the first one on that knee. Not sure why.
My brother had one knee replaced 5 years ago, and still gives him grief. (He's retired US Army now in Arkansas.) He can no longer run, or play ball. But better than he was before the surgery.

While in the orthopaedic ward in Africa, there were several who came through for knee replacements over the 5 weeks. Some were walking the next day or two, while others took a few days to start walking with physio.
Guess it depends on the individual, their knee condition , age, and physical health.
With your active lifestyle and condition, hopefully you'll be one of the who recover quickly and are out there walking again in next day or two!
If worst case scenario, you're not, maybe we'll have to go together later, and both hobble around after our target species! ;)
We can use/repurpose my crutches for shooting sticks!
