Working up loads for a Marlin 336BL Its a Remington built Marlin. No issues, its well built and looks as good as any Marlin I've owned in the past. Only aggravation so far is the trigger pull. After the deer season is over I will break it down and polish the insides and see if it smooths out...

Me too. The lower RPM due to loading them down in velocity I guess ? The old Core-Lokt didn't seem to mind....

I've shot a boat load of deer with the 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. Its probably my favorite .25 cal bullet. None of Nosler's bullets will work in the 1-14" twist of my Model 99, so I didn't bother testing them.

I've only got a few bullets on hand so I thought I would run some expansion test before ordering any new bullets. Water jugs may not be the best test median but they are cheap. I set them up at 50 yards. I loaded the rounds to around 2,200 fps. out of a Savage 99 chambered in the 250-3000. So...

I've got some 130 grain Speer soft points coming. I hope to get a little more speed out of the lighter bullet. I here it holds together as well.

The .338 bullet was fired from a custom 22" T/C Encore carbine barrel chambered in .33 WCF. Muzzle velocity was a tad over 2,200 fps

Update The .338 Hornady FP was taken from a four point buck shot in the rear (Texas heart shot) at a little over 100 yards. For comparison.

I'm not sure, maybe its the Micro-groove rifling ? I was hoping to get 2,500 fps along with 1 1/2" to 2" groups out of the Monoflex. :cry:

New bullets for the 30-30 Win have sparked my interest in the old-timer. The original Barnes 150 grain X-bullet with its large hollow point looks good. Wasn't impressed with the velocitiy. The bullet is long and has a much greater friction bearing surface than a convinsional lead core bullet...

Is Nosler planning on selling the RN Ballistic Tip loaded in the factory load as a component bullet ?

Does anyone know were I can find these ? There made for the European market. They would sure work good in a short action 6.5 Rem Mag.
