Tagged on a young bull moose. 209 yards with the 8x57, 195 gr interlock at 2570fps out of the Sauer. Bull didn't make it more than 20 yards and toppled in seconds. Bullet recovered on the offside of a rib/hide. Lungs were petrified.

That is a great freezer filler. You would almost think that bullet was designed for the old 8x57. You can't ask for more than that. Congrats

Congrats on the moose. That bullet did its job , good expansion at 200+.

The young meat caribou bull I got yesterday was taken with my new-to-me LH Browning X Bolt All Weather in 308 Win.
The ammo was Federal's 175 gr Terminal Ascent that is doing 2570 fps out of the 22" barrel.
The shot was double lung at 76 yards and completely passed though the animal. I have yet to recover a TA bullet from game (6 animals to date).
The bullet made a fine mess of the lungs and creased the top of the heart.
This is the first animal I have taken with a 308 Win in 37 years!

Susan and I will be using a 308 Win in Africa next year...for her black wildebeest and white blesbok, and my red lechwe and cape bushbuck.

I was looking to take a moose or black bear with it...so I guess I'll be packing the 7mm PRC tomorrow.
