338 Lapua with LRT

Might not be 250s , did start with LRT in his 338L. I don’t know how much he shot it as life kinda got in his way.

I’ve only ran RL-33 and 300s in mine. The usual suspects H1000 and Retumbo would be a better choice in my opinion for 250s.

Both those are hard to find here I seen US869 and LRT on the shelf . Yes H1000 would be my choice.

Would stepping up to 300gr bullets be an option? Would work better with LRT.

Grand is more inline with H1000 burn rate , should suit you fine.

I've been reloading with Grand in a few cartridges lately. Grand has proven to have a slower burn rate than H1000, requiring a few additional grains to achieve the same velocity as an h1000 load. Grand's burn rate is VERY close to Retumbo.

Grand on the burn rate chart to next to H1000 but real world user experience is appreciated. I think I will stay with H1000. If I can find some !

That’s my goal in my CA Mesa Lapua is a stand gun for moose hunting .

I shot several bulls with that exact combo. It is very effective. I shot one bull through both shoulders with the bullet being caught in the off-side hide. The expanded bullet weighed 140gr which I thought was pretty good considering how much bone it penetrated. All the others were pass throughs.

I don’t know anything about Ramshot powder, I do have 3 or 4 boxes of 250gr Accubonds if you need them.

50 bucks a box + shipping I’ve four or five boxes, plus shipping which probably be 20 to 25 bucks if you took all of them.

I have some .284 Fail Safes 160gr bullets in original boxes of 25 each for trade
I tried a number of different powders. But the maximum loads would come up short of 3k
H1000 got me there with grains to spare

Yes that what I used H1000 but now the powder is very scarce on the shelf. I noticed Grand Powder has 3000 fps with 250gr at 97.0 in 26”.
