Put on some miles this week looking for a moose for my daughter. Checked out some areas that have been proven in the past...came home with quite a few more grouse...mostly ruffies, some spruce hens, a duskie and a sharptail. Of course, the two big bull moose we saw were at last light along the Alaska Highway coming home, where you can't shoot within 400m of the highway.
She went out with her husband this morning in the snow and got a nice cow moose...had to call me to come with the truck to load it to bring it home LOL.
Used the come-along to get it in the back of the truck, brought it home and skinned and quartered it using the front end loader on the tractor.

Fotis,
Congratulations on your opening day cow elk. You absolutely hammered that cow. Nice shooting buddy.

The 4 year dry spell of not getting anything has ended. I finally got an elk after missed shots and the elk not cooperating for a good shot. I got this 1x2 on the 19th. I was using my hoochie mama on estres cow in what we call the big clearing. He showed up out nowhere and came down the cattle path straight towards me. I got into the sitting postion as soon as I saw him and was watching him through the scope waiting for him to turn broadside. He never did. I took a frontal shot with my 270WSM at about 50 feet. He didn't go far.

My wife shot a nice 8 pt a few evenings ago. He was chasing a doe and stopped in the food plot giving Sue a 40 yard broadside shot. She sent the 100 gr Sevr Titanium Hybrid 2.0 from her Ravin R26X on its way right through both lungs. He went 40 yards and piled up.
